About FyreShadow

On Etsy since 2007

A life-long Philadelphia resident who uses items found in nature to create inspiring, beautiful pieces.

Having been raised in a large family in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania we often explored Wissahickon Creek. I've continued doing that as an adult, with my own children, now grandchildren, and alone.

When I was lucky enough to live in England I learned knitting, felting, and wood carving.

To relieve stress from my public service job I started creating. Collages, art, scarves, jewelry, felted objects...to name a few.

Inspired by the textures, forms and nature I see while hiking I've tried to design pieces that reflect that inspiration and my love for the local environs.

While walking along the banks of the Wisshickon, I've been picking up glass fragments. Preserving what we have is important to me so I often incorporate this found glass and upcycled beads into my pieces. Some date from the 1800's and some from last week.

A unique and very distinctive rock found on my hikes and, in my work - when possible, is Wissahickon schist. It has flecks of glittery mica, garnets, and shadings of gray, brown, tan, and blue.

My main goals are to use materials and create pieces that inspire the owner to be their best self.
