I got a pop on the bottom and a rude awakening!

When I think of myself, I often think about my childhood.

In fact I remember Kindergarten art class very vividly. One day our teacher brought out some fabric, some strings, buttons, glues and papers. She had cut the fabric into various shapes and sizes, and told us to make anything we wanted. We began gluing all different colors and patterns of fabric onto the paper. I had a blast!!

In fact, I had so much fun creating during that art project that I had a dream that same night about going out and getting some fabric and such so that I could make something like that whenever I wanted.

However, I was acting out my dream; heading right out the front door. My Mother heard something and came to me. She was quite surprised to see me with my hands on the door handle. She have me a gentle, but firm pop on the bottom. Suddenly I awoke and wondered why I got popped. My five year old self didn’t understand what had happened.

Now she didn't hurt me and she wasn't angry. She felt she needed to get my attention, and it had scared her to see her 5 year old daughter walking out the door in the middle of the night.

She realized the next day that I was actually sleep walking. I had never done that before. That was the first time...more funny stories could be told.

But I remember being determined to obtain art supplies. Like then, it is the same now. I love to create something beautiful. And I makes my heart glad when something I've made pleases someone else.

It's about the smile they have, and the light in their eyes when they feel that joy. It's about those things for me. The smile is the heart's way of shining. That's what's important to me.

My name is Melanie. Welcome! Most everyday, I attempt to create something awe-inspiring. How often does that happen? Well you be the judge. Artist, crafters and creators spend much time experimenting, failing and trying it again. That's what I do.
