I love making journals!

After several years of wandering in art - scrapbooking, card making etc. etc.- I found out that I love making journals! Any kind of journals - as long as they are sewed with one way or another and resemble books - not pamphlets or attached papers...... just books!

Thanks for visiting my shop - it is the second shop of my life - as for 20 yeras I had an mortar and pestle shop that was selling clothes in Kallithea Athens. Due to the Greek economic crisis, this venture had to come to an end, so here I am, having my new shop that combines both my passion for bookmaking and the skill of selling!

I love answering questions, so do not hesitate to ask! I am a perfectionist - I will never send a book that I am not satisfied with! Rest assured that you will get more than the exact words of the listing, so don't hesitate.

Just tell me what you need and I wiil make it for you. I ' m taking pride that since now, I have not a single disappointed customer, and I intend to keep this as a fact! I can make the book that will fulfil your needs, but as I am the creator , the finishing touches will be mine, so do not avoid answering questions. I am an artist, so you can leave the creative part to me!

Thank you for reading all this - I am looking forward making your next book or album, that will last for generations and will carry your memories a long, long way.

Thanks

About

Where mixed media meets bookbinding!

Each book I make is unique on its own right - they are like children to me. I spend some "pregnant" time with each one, until the idea formulates, grows and is ready to be born. Then I start touching the newborn, shaping it, cuddling it, train it to have all the necessary qualifications to become a book. Sometimes with a soft hand (you should watch me when I prepare and apply the inks), sometimes with a hard hand (I use a hammer to shape or round the block), sometimes with trembling hand (especially when I am "compelled" to add another layer of paint, although I am almost satisfied with the cover- not knowing if I will "destroy" it or not. Keyword here is "almost")
Most of the times, just before the book reaches its adulthood- means after the book block and cover are ready but not attached- it needs a caress, to be able to go on while being forever linked with its creator. So I mark its spine.
Sometimes with a song, sometimes with a quote, sometimes with just a wishing well. No one will be able to see it, until the book falls apart (and I make sure that THIS will happen after some lifetimes), and hopefully means so much by then, that her owner applies to a restorator to shape her back. But it is there, it is my strength spell and it will keep whispering my words to my book for ever, no matter how many new bonds she will make.
Many bookbinders do that. So next time you hold a handmade book , you will know. It is like a child to someone and it is bound and kept together by love.

I love making journals!

After several years of wandering in art - scrapbooking, card making etc. etc.- I realized that I needed to express myself in a different way.So, I started to explore mixed media techniques. The idea of combining different arts and crafts and different materials to produce art, hooked me immediately. It was but a small step to pass to art journaling (back then, when it was not a fashion) . Very quickly I realised that I could not find the right journal for me. So I learned the art of bookbinding. That was it!

I love making journals! Any kind of journals - as long as they are sewed with one way or another and resemble books - not pamphlets or attached papers...... just books! My favorite journals, apart of the superb quality of the paper, have mixed media covers that give them their own character. This is why each of my journals has a story and a name .

I believe that the most important milestone in human history is the written word.

It is amazing to consider, all these stories we are capable of knowing, because somebody, sometime, took the pain to record it. In this cyber world, I am a lover of the old plain paper. Paper preserves everything - from art, to grandmas cooking recipes. It maintains its space in the world and is never lost somewhere in the "cloud".

All of us have a story to tell. We may ride different vessels - words, paints, drawing etc- but our stories are there and crave to be told and be preserved for the future generations.

This is the reason I make journals. Each book I make, is a child for mine . With its name, its unique character, its own wills and won'ts. I pride that I make journals with "personality".

I always use the finest materials, researched and bought from all over the world. I have a care for detail and I make everything by hand. My style reflects my Greek origins where tradition, vintage, history and family are interconnected to provide the foundation of our modern lives, and my travels to different cultures and parts of the world. My books are made to withstand time and preserve your work for you and for the generations to come.

I hope that you will love my journals as much as I love making them
