Mythos: Aromas of the Other World

Spending most of my life as a florist and landscaper gave me a connection to the fragrances of the world. Perfumes were a lifelong temptation; I eventually succumbed to the seduction of collecting. This inspired a fascination with fragrance history - and finally an obsession with creation.

I was a born fantasy nerd, always living half in the world of fairytales and mythology. Over the years I worked as a writer, actor, and costumer, with a focus on storytelling and performing arts. I also had a good amount of study in history, science, horticulture, biology, and psychology. Put it all together with the the visceral thrill of the olfactory realm, and that's the birth of Mythos; a concept I hope to nurture and grow. I am currently in training at the Institute for Art and Olfaction close to me in Los Angeles, and expect to be there for many years to come.

Frequently asked questions
Are these products natural?

I work with many types of materials, all safe and FDA / IFRA approved. I prefer naturals for their beauty and complexity, but they can be prohibitively expensive. I try to indicate on each listing what percentage of natural materials it contains. Look for the notation "Mythos Naturals" in the title and description to indicate products that are 100% natural. Please bear in mind, however, that natural ingredients contain far more allergens and irritants than synthetics. The carriers I use are either a purified perfumer's grain alcohol or a variety of oils: generally grapeseed or sweet almond.

Are these products organic?

This is a tough question, because the natural materials I get can be from many different sources. Some will be certified organic, many more are probably organic, and some are wildcrafted - which means they are field-grown by independent sources, so certification is impossible.
