I was under the impression that I was paying 5$ for 5beads. It was only for a single bead. It was listed in the description that it was only for 1 bead, but all of the photos featured 5beads. Needless to say, I ended up making my own beads to fill out the rest of my locks.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience. I offered you a compensation and has changed the listing so that it is clearer how many beads are included. Thank you for the feedback! Kind regards, Sofia.

I love beads

It all started a biting cold winter day in 2010. I had brought two wool dreadlocks, a bag of colorful beads and a large camera to the forest for the preparation of my Etsy shop opening. It was fun. And since then, I never really stopped!

But it really started a couple of years ago, when I started to look all over town for dreadlock beads for my hair, and came up with the idea that I should start making them myself!

Nässla combines my interest for design, craft, photography and web and I am so happy to be able to ship my craft all over the world. Inspiration sometimes start in my mind - I want to express a feeling, a color or shape - or I play and go with the flow. I always forget what time it is.

I want to create jewelry that suits the moving human - you should be able to climb trees and dance all night long if you wish.

Nässla is the outflow of my imagination. I want to create jewelry that makes people able to express themselves through colors, shapes and fantasy. I love colors and create beads in polymer clay and browse second-hand shops for unusual beads.

Welcome to my shop! I love to create beautiful things and i hope that you will like them as well. I make all my items at a small scale besides my job and the aim is to become more skilled at what i'm doing, besides enjoying the flow of creativeness. I believe that when we buy handmade things from each other, created in flow and with happiness, we get a better feeling in ourselves wearing them!

Additional policies and FAQs

-How do i choose the right size?
I recommend that you measure the diameter of some bead that you already have. Or use some "beads" you can find at home, like screw nuts, to compare with.

You can also measure with a string. Take some string, wrap quite tight around your dread and measure how large the diameter of the circle gets.

I make the beads only after diamater size. This is because circumference is harder to standardize and measure. If you need a circumference to diameter converter, this is a nice one:

If you have young dreads, consider that dreadlocks often get thicker, more compact and get more loops with time, meaning that they will fill out large beads better. Also it is usual that the dreads fuse together. I went from 5 mm and now use 10-15 mm. You could also put more than one dread inside the bead.

-How durable are the polymer clay jewellery?
Polymer clay is hard, with a bit of flexibility. I do test all my jewelry for endurance before listing them. I have worn my own clay jewellery day and night, during washing and styling for several months. In contrast to painted wooden hair hair beads, polymer clay has the perfect properties for a long life.

-Some of your beads are finished with varnish, will it wear off?
I use a finish that is meant for wearing surfaces like tables so it's really strong! I would advice you to take them off during showering though, as I can't guarantee that it will resist the heat, rubbing and water. In my own experience, it will resist occasional swimming, cold washing etc but not on a regular basis.

-Can you make different colours or sizes?
Maybe, please contact me!

-Can I use your pictures in my blog/website/irl?
Yes of course! Though not for commercial purposes.
Feel free to distribute them, link back to so that new customers find my shop :) It would also be fun to get a link to your blog!
