About namasteyall222
I create therefore I am!
I was a girl from the hills of West Virginia now being assimilated into a Louisiana woman. I am a wife, a mom, homeschooler, group fitness instructor and an artist. Art is not what I do, it truly is part of who I AM.
I once told my husband that if someone asked me to stop making art it would be akin to asking me not to breathe. I have been doing art for as long as I can remember. It’s how I center myself, and frankly sometimes it is meditative for me.
I am completely self taught and have learned by lots and lots of practice. I have tried too many varieties of art to name them all, but I have always come back to drawing after my other artistic ventures.
I discovered zentangling (purposeful doodling) a few years ago and never looked back. It was a wonderful zen creative outlet – where you don’t focus so much on what it will be but allow the artwork to organically morph into what it wants to be. It’s abstract without a lot of rules – which always worked for me because I am notorious for bucking up against the status quo.
I sometimes will include some realistic subjects (fleur de lis, buddha hands, birds) but largely my works are more abstract. I really enjoy the shading as much as the drawing of the works – the shading really brings the piece to life.
I am inspired by simple things – the tile pattern on a wall, wrought iron grates, the pattern on a comforter. I see patterns everywhere and will often incorporate them in my work.
It is a pleasure to be able to share my art and myself with the world. My work has hung at Pujo Street Cafe for a few years and I have done other events like Art Walk and Gallery Promenade. I am currently a member of SWLArt with a lot of amazing local artists and we have a lot of big things coming in 2016.
I just released my first coloring book here on my site and am in the process of planning a coloring event at a local coffee shop to promote my book and offer some free pages created by me. My work will also be shown this Spring (Opens May 19th, 2016) at Henning House in Sulphur, LA for the “Works of Women” exhibit. Stay tuned!
