Jewelry Care

I want to make sure you enjoy your jewelry for a long time! So to make sure that it stays as beautiful as the day you bought it here are some tips. I’ve gathered these through various websites so hopefully I’ve covered everything:

♥ Always avoid contact with chemicals, such as hair spray and perfume, household cleansers, pool chemicals and salt or hard water. These could ruin the metals or stones; changing the color, making them more brittle, etc. You can help avoid these things by not swimming with your jewelry pieces on and by putting your jewelry on last when getting dressed.

♥ Always remove your jewelry at night or during the day when you don't need to wear it. Exercising, swimming or doing household chores while wearing your jewelry could eventually leave a film behind, dulling the color and shine!

♥ Wipe your jewelry pieces with a soft, clean cloth after wearing to help remove natural body oils and/or sweat residue.

♥ Silver and gold will eventually tarnish or discolor if left out in the open air, leaving your sterling pieces black and gold pieces kind of dull. Because of this you should store your jewelry pieces in zip lock bags or in a jewelry box or jewelry case with the lid closed, particularly the silver pieces. This helps reduce the amount of tarnish and the amount of cleaning or polishing needed later. I’ve heard that if you store a piece of chalk in your jewelry box, this will help eliminate some of the tarnishing process!! If you want to go the commercial route, you can buy and use anti-tarnish strips that you can place in your jewelry box. They should last a few months or more and can be found at your local jeweler’s or in jewelry supply catalogs or websites.
