PLEASE READ all the descriptions before ordering and inspect all photos carefully. Many pieces are offered in 3 colors of gold, with one or two of them ready to ship, and the other is MADE to ORDER. Also, PLEASE inspect the measurements and all reference photos for SIZE! If you are still not sure, get out a favorite piece of your own jewelry and measure! Many (not all..) of my pieces are TINY! I try my best to accurately represent the size of each piece. I use several photos with size referencing things like a ruler and pennies etc.
Thanks for visiting my shop!
I love making fun and beautiful jewelry that is both wearable and durable. When you buy from me you are buying direct from the designer/artist/craftswoman/ and MAKER of the jewelry! I have been making silver and gold jewelry for over 40 years. I am a one person studio.
Follow me on Facebook and Instagram: @nancyhoytjewelry and also check out my website at http://www.nancyhoytjewelry.com. It has tons of pictures of one of a kind custom pieces including wedding rings (be sure to check out the ring section and the portfolio section!)
My jewelry is made from recycled metals; so the gold and silver is not newly mined from the ground. I can buy your old scrap jewelry and give you a credit for my store, or a credit towards a custom piece for you. I do redesigning and remounts from old jewelry pieces; and depending on the type of old gold, I can sometimes use your old metal to directly melt it down and make you a new piece! Please contact me for more information.
And, stay safe and healthy out there!

5 out of 5 starsI really love these butterfly earrings in silver and the high quality workmanship. Shipment came fast and beautifully packaged including a cloth to keep up the care of my new earrings. A note included her techniques on making jewelry. I recommend working with Nancy and exploring her designs.

5 out of 5 starsLove my earrings! These originally came with fish hook earrings backs and I asked if Nancy could make them with lever backs. The communication was excellent and these were sent out to me super quickly.

5 out of 5 starsBought these for my daughter for Mother's Day and couldn't wait to give them to her! She shared Nancy's website with a friend, then started yearning for these owls...little did I know! Loves, loves, loves them - like all the jewelry I've purchased for myself and gifted over the 20 years or so that I've been a client of Nancy Hoyt! Lovely!!

5 out of 5 starsOh, so sweet. The craftsmanship is nicely done in 14k, from the beautiful blue sapphire and detailing around the eye to the spiral wing that reminds me of the Newgrange ancient Celtic stones. The latter was the ultimate deciding factor in this purchase finding not only a symbol of journey and peace but also the symbol of my heritage. Perfectly executed.

Art Jewelry Maker
I discovered jewelry making in my high school art class! How lucky I was to uncover the thing I was to devote my life doing at such a young age. I earned a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts with an emphasis on jewelry and metal-smithing from the University of Oregon. I have continued my education over the years apprenticing and taking specialty workshops from masters.
After college I worked as a bench jeweler for several years honing my skills. When my husband and I started our family I wanted to be home with our kids, so I set up a home studio. I have been doing juried art shows, gallery sales and custom work; and now working hard at running my Etsy shop!
I have had several different studios over the years. I now work in a refurbished retro- vintage trailer as my studio in Dolores, Colorado. (My shop icon is a picture of it).
MY PROCESS:
My jewelry making involves many different processes including the ancient art of lost wax casting, and also hand fabrication techniques. I usually start with either a pencil sketch, an approximate idea in my head. I carve the lost wax pieces by hand from a block of wax using reshaped dental picks, scalpels, and flexible shaft burrs. The wax is then enveloped in plaster, melted out in a kiln, then using a torch and centrifuge; cast into silver or gold. I use recycled metals. Once I have my original in metal finished and polished, I can take a rubber mold of it; I layer uncured rubber over the original, "Vulcanize" it (which is pressure and heating) to cure the rubber. It is then cut into a 2 or 3 part mold with a scalpel. I use my wax pot and air compressor to inject wax into the rubber mold. The waxes usually need clean up (re-carve) and then I use the lost wax casting method again. This duplicating process allows me to charge lower prices especially for the more complicated designs that originally take many many hours to carve.
For fabricating pieces I use many different tools and methods to manipulate the metal (usually silver and gold) including: files, drills, saws, pliers, nippers, torches, a buffer, sand blaster, rolling mill, vises, stakes, hammers, draw-plates, gravers, punches, and dapping tools. I use silver, gold, precious and semi-precious gemstones to create my unique jewelry.
Besides here on Etsy, I sell my work at the following galleries and stores;
McCall Jewelry Company, McCall, Idaho;
Trios Studio, Lake Oswego, Oregon;
Whitebird Gallery, Cannon Beach, Oregon;
RiverSea Gallery, Astoria Oregon,
I am a member of SNAG; The Society of North American Goldsmiths; CMAG; the Creative Metal Arts Guild based in Portland Oregon, and COMAG; the Central Oregon Metal Arts Guild based in Bend Oregon.
