My mother was an artist and always had us involved with some sort of art project growing up. We did everything from watercolors to silk screening, block printing (making our own stamps because you couldn't buy rubber stamps at the time) to tie dyeing, silk screening, watercolor painting, table loom weaving, pottery, Inkle loom weaving, origami, chalk drawings. You name it, we probably did it. I partnered with my mother, the weaving business, in 1982, right after the birth of my first child. I wanted to be a stay at home mom but still make an income. We sold wholesale, consignment and retail at many large, juried ACC and art fairs across the United States. Now over 30 years later, I am still passionate about working with the different yarns, textures and colors. I weave scarves as well as fabric for my handwoven bags and straps. My son, who is an accomplished guitar player, inspired me to use my weaving to make guitar straps which along with my camera straps later became my Sound Wake Straps. I'm looking forward to entering the next phase of my weaving which is using my own hand dyed yarns as the focal point in all my weaving. I used to help my mother occasionally with her dyeing process. She dyed some of her yarns with the "space dyed" method, which weren't available commercially back then. My mother was a big influence to me and I'm so fortunate to have grown up being able to express myself as an artist with different mediums. It's a pleasure to me, to be able to walk into my studio each morning and see all the beautiful colors and textures just waiting for me to something create with them.❤️
