It was an honor having the opportunity to work with Nan. She is professional, incredibly talented and went so far above and beyond to make a portrait for my parents anniversary quickly in order to accommodate my tight deadline. Nan was able to perfectly capture a very special moment so beautifully and has now allowed it to last forever in watercolor form. I am very lucky to have come across Nan's site, and highly recommend this seller and product!!!

It's been a delight to work with Nan. She is so very talented, and makes the entire process seamless. Her extra personal touch and superb customer service along the way set her apart. I am thrilled to be able to share such a meaningful, beautiful portrait with my boyfriend.

About

Custom Portraits that capture the feeling. To celebrate the moment and the memory. Created with loving hands from your photos.

Hi! My name is Nan LaCaille. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts, as well as, a work history in Design. My education and work experience has extended a love and appreciation for all arts. However, portraiture is my lifelong passion beginning the moment I picked up a pencil and before I could sign my own name.

While my father's side of the family is creative through and through, it is actually my mother that started me out on this portrait artist path. As a little girl she taught me to draw the profile of a teenybopper sporting a ponytail. Her mother, my grammy, was my biggest fan. The pink-walled kitchen a gallery for my faces. For the longest time I drew people out of magazines like National Geographic. As a young adult I began drawing those closest to me and also people posing at art studios.

These days it gives my heart the greatest pleasure to collaborate with people around the world!! I am creating personal portraits from Australia to Sweden and North Carolina to California, all having sentimental value and a place to be, a home... before I even apply the brush to paper. Absolutely Beautiful! I feel so fortunate.

Wherever you are at this moment and wherever I may be at the moment, Thanks so much for finding me and hopefully you found a smile too!

Looking forward to future collaborative art efforts with you, Nan.

The Materials I use to create your special pieces:

Watercolor Papers:
♥ Canson Ecopapers 300g/140 lb cold press, Acid Free.
With recycled content and sustainable practices.
♥ Arches 100% Cotton 300g/140 lb cold press
I go with Canson on my drier pieces and Arches on my wet works.

Watercolor Paints:
♥ Artists' Winsor & Newton
♥ Cotman Winsor & Newton
♥ Designers Gouache Winsor & Newton
Cotman vs Professional Line Permanence are equal. Cotman is not as bright and saturated, perfect for my portraits! I use a combination of these items.

Care Instructions:
Even the best quality watercolors fade when exposed to direct sunlight over time. To keep colors brilliant, frame the painting with museum or UV-resistant glass and avoid hanging in direct sunlight.

Drawing Papers:
♥ Canson Ecopapers 300g/140 lb cold press, Acid Free.
With recycled content and sustainable practices.
♥ Bienfang 219g/148 lb
50% recycled, Environmental, Acid Free
♥ Hahnemuhle Nostalgie 190g/90 lb
Acid free, Age resistant
♥ Strathmore 130g/80 lb
Acid free, durable

The Canson paper is the only one I use for both watercolor and drawing projects. It is my first choice, but I may use these other papers if I find them suitable for a particular piece.

Drawing Pencils and Pens:
♥ Faber-Castell
♥ Prismacolor
♥ Spectracolor
♥ Koh-I-Noor
♥ Derwent Graphic
♥ Sakura Pigma Micron
