A little bit about me. . .

I’ve always had a love of printed pattern, particularly William Morris, the early Laura Ashley prints, and the tiny floral prints associated with the likes of Linda Beard and Liberty of London. Blessed with four daughters I had ample opportunity to make clothing, gym bags, soft furnishings and so on from some of these beautiful fabrics but as the children grew up it was clear they didn’t share my enthusiasm for pretty prints. I had to figure out other creative ways to include these fabrics in my life.
Around the time my third daughter was born, I was experimenting with fabric on cards for personal use. It was then a friend, impressed with what I was making, commissioned me to make a 'new baby' card to celebrate the arrival of her friend’s baby. I stitched a little pram with some fabric scraps cut from one of my daughter's old dresses and used buttons salvaged from another for the wheels. I am told it was very well received! By now I was receiving a lot of praise from family and friends who had received my cards and with their encouragement (and a deep breath!) I began to make cards to sell. Initially I sold them locally by word of mouth, or through Ebay and after my fourth daughter was born I took a break as my hands were full with four small children.
Some years later once the children were all of school age, I started a small business selling fabric and doll making supplies, but I soon found myself in need of that regular stitching fix again. I began making a few cards to sell alongside the materials but after a while I realised I was spending so much time on the business side of things that my creativity was suffering, and so was my sanity! I closed down the fabrics business to concentrate on doing what I love and my little handmade business was born!

When I'm not busy stitching I can usually be found in the kitchen up to my elbows in bread dough or pottering in my little garden. I also drink a lot of herb tea and collect vintage fabric!
