I really appreciate Lindsay and David's help in choosing the best way to re-bind my book. After lusting after their lovely leather covered, raised spine styles, I decided to go with that instead of my original choice of something much simpler. I'm so glad I did - the finished product is so indulgent - the rich color, fine material, and old world craftsmanship gave my book a new life. Thank you so much!

About

"This paperback is very interesting, but I find it will never replace a hardcover book- it makes a very poor doorstop." -Alfred Hitchcock

Owners David and Lindsay are a husband and wife team that operate out of their shop in Decatur, Georgia. David has a BFA from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, and is a bookbinder by trade. After crafting hundreds of decorative books for their winter wedding, the couple decided to continue their design work together. With the framework already in place for a seamlessly blended endeavor, National Quarterly was created.

The ancient art and craft of bookbinding fulfills both practical and aethetic functions. A book's binding protects its pages and print while also embellishing the volume's exterior, sometimes transforming an otherwise ordinary book into a work of art. But with the technological movement of e-books being read on iPads, Kindles or other electronic readers; hardbound books have become almost obsolete.

In an effort to maintain their decorative significance, National Quarterly strives to make true pieces of art out of each book they encounter. From restoration bindery of antiquated pieces, to up-cycled library decor and custom orders; we have the craftsmanship and devotion to showcase bookbinding through traditional methods, tools and techniques.

We welcome custom orders and crave the challenges of creating new and exciting bindings that satisfy our expanding market.
