Soap and Skin Care inspired by Nature

Back in 2007, I thought about making lip balms for friends and family. As I began searching for supplies online, I realized most sites were dedicated to soap makers. It struck me that I knew nothing about soap making, and very little about soap. So, with my interest piqued, I decided to concentrate on learning about soap.

I spent the next 6 months reading everything I could about soap, soap making and details about the ingredients that go into soap. Then I went to the local lumber yard, got some wood and made my own soap molds and my own curing rack (at least I knew a bit about woodworking!). With much trepidation, I made my first batch of cold-process soap.

Not only was it a success, I couldn't believe how different it was from what I had been using (sadly, only commercial bars). I sent out that first batch to friends and family, asking for their imput. What I didn't expect were the orders I received!

And, Nature's Muse was born.

My line of products is constantly growing and evolving. I try to keep things as natural as possible. I never use any animal products in my soaps (no goat's milk, no honey, no tallow, etc), only high-quality vegetable oils and butters. My bars don't contain pigments, oxides or dyes; different colors come from different botanicals or clays. Virtually all my soaps are scented with only pure essential oils (the few bars that I still offer with fragrance oils are clearly noted in the descriptions). And I only use sustainable palm oil in those soaps that contain it.

I'm also eliminating beeswax from the few items in my shop that contained it, and will be using candelilla wax so that everything will be vegan-friendly.

Thank you for visiting my shop. I hope you find a nature-inspired soap or skin care item you'll want to try!
