Announcement   I'm a fourth generation quilter. All my life I was surrounded by fabrics, colors, prints, and quilts. Due to school and the usual teenager attitude I didn't learn as much as I could have while living with my family. Growing up around it has helped, however, with learning how to create these things now.

What you find here are items I have made. Everything from sewn and quilted coasters to king size quilts. Original quilting patterns to tried-and-true are used for these creations.

Prices vary depending on fabric choices, pattern and design, time it takes to cut, piece, and sew, as well as hand-quilting or machine quilting. The prices range from $5 to over $1k. I do accept partial payments! Please look through my policies for information regarding this.

Custom orders/commissions are accepted! I won't take on very many commissions at once due to the time it takes to create these.

Every purchase also receives a free gift (while supplies last).

For 22 years I made jewelry, but due to a torn ligament and doctor's orders I have had to give it up. I refuse to cease with creating beautiful, unique, colorful items, and have instead turned to the long family tradition of quilting.

If you want to stay up-to-date on what's happening, including special sales and coupon codes, follow me my blog: https://chaosfay.wordpress.com.

Please look through my policies page. Many questions you have will likely have been answered there.

It's perfect. I'll be giving it to my friend in the next month or so, and I'm certain that she will love it.

About

Twisted in Colors

For over 20 years I made macrame jewelry, avoiding the look of the 60s and 70s like the plague. Chokers, bracelets, anklets, necklaces, full sets, wall hangings, gems, pendants, lace, hemp, cotton, linen, I used whatever material suited my ideas. 20 years of knots, beads, bells, and bones.

Sadly, it wasn't meant to last.

Arthritis decided to visit and never leave, which is to be expected I guess. For a few years I was heartbroken and didn't really know what to do with myself. Sitting around without keeping my hands busy has never felt right, and jewelry was how I kept them busy.

Thankfully I did find something. In Fall 2015 I took up the family tradition of quilting. I'm a fourth generation quilter (though my mother said it may go back further in our family), and picked it up with ease. In no time at all I've found my style, preferred technique, built up a healthy collection of fabric and patterns, and now fully immerse myself in my work.

I've made several gifts (great way to practice) and small items. Now I'm working on larger projects! I have a lot of time on my hands, and have found a method that works well for me. It also helps that the region I live in has a lot of quilt shows during the Summer. So much exposure and encouragement, and from complete strangers!

Growing up I was surrounded by colors, prints, fabrics, and quilts. Now I know how to make these things and share the family tradition. It's a good feeling finding something that sings to me. It doesn't bother my arthritis hardly at all, making it that much more wonderful.

I'm only just beginning my quilting journey, but my mother (a master quilter) is thoroughly impressed with my progress. My hope is to make a solid mark in the quilting world, even if within my own small circle of friends and family.

Once-upon-a-time I made jewelry for 22 years, but I developed arthritis and can no longer make jewelry. I'm now a fourth generation quilter, taking up the family tradition, and apply all my skills and knowledge to my quilting.

Shop policies

All prices are final. My prices take in costs of materials, what materials were used, the difficulty level of making the piece, and lastly how long it takes for me to create it.

I make each piece with care and pour all my love and happy energy into it. When it's finished I want to feel it is worthy of being sold and given to the special person who ordered it. I imagine the smile of excitement when they receive the package, opening it, and holding in their hand the piece of their choice. I know that flutter of joy and satisfaction very well and wish to share that feeling with all my customers.

So enter my shop knowing my pieces are fairly priced, the work is made with high standards, and love and great care are put into each piece. All of which are individual and one of a kind, just as every person is. I want to share the joy of being an individual tied to a part of the great whole.

Accepted payment methods

  • Pay with Visa
  • Pay with Master Card
  • Pay with American Express

  • Pay with PayPal
  • Buy with Apple Pay
  • Pay with Sofort
  • Pay with iDeal
  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
I accept money orders, Paypal, and credit/debit card payments, cash, and will not mail the piece until I receive confirmed payment. If I do not receive payment within a reasonable amount of time I will cancel your order. I consider 10 days from the day I post the finished custom order as a reasonable amount of time.

If it is not a custom order and you wish for me to reserve it for you I will require a 50% down-payment upfront. This applies only to sewn/quilted items $100 and up. It is not for the overall purchase, just one item.

You can make payments using Paypal without having a Paypal account. Make sure you have a debit, credit, or bank account because this information will be required by Paypal to send payment.

In specific cases I will accept cash, but it must be in US dollars. Contact me about this. When I have the money in hand I will then ship your order. I have a reputation to keep up and a poor review reflects badly on me. I lose business. As such I do my very best to get orders out as soon as the payment is confirmed as received.

I rarely accept checks because checks can be cancelled or fraud. I do not want to go to the bank and deposit the check only to find out it's been cancelled or is fake. I will end up paying for this. Instead I will accept e-checks (can be done via paypal) and money orders.

Payments made over time, such as monthly payments, are accepted. You will not receive the item until I receive the final payment. The reason for this is simple: I don't want to risk not getting paid. This is especially important regarding more expensive items, such as large quilts. When I receive the final payment you will receive your item. Contact me privately regarding this.

No refunds will be given, all payments are final, and if you choose to cancel your purchase you will not receive a refund. The reason for this is because someone else may have wanted the item you were making payments on, and they could have paid me the full price immediately. I lost a potential customer due to the monthly payments you agreed to make. Please take this into consideration before contacting me about this.

For commissions I require partial payment, 50%, upfront, the price being determined by the planned item. This is non-refundable. That 50% covers the cost of supplies. Quilting materials are not cheap. The total cost is simple. Cost of material + complexity of design/pattern + cutting/piece/sewing time + quilting (either by hand or machine) = final price. Prices can range from $5 to over $1k.

Partial and monthly payments will consist of me sending you an invoice via Paypal. We can discuss details regarding how much you can pay, how often, etc. Remember there are absolutely no refunds.
Shipping
Many of my pieces carry some weight with them, hence the shipping costs. I use flat rate shipping if it costs less.

You are responsible for finding the customs information for your country. Several countries don't allow jewelry of any kind through customs, and a few don't accept items made with certain fabrics. If a package is sent back to me because of customs I will NOT refund the money back to you.

If you live outside the USA please send me a message BEFORE you make a purchase. Let me know what the shipping requirements are. Shipping costs will be adjusted for this. I will make a trip to UPS, FedEx, and USPS to get a price quote, bringing the item with me. This will help determine whether or not I should get the shipment insured, confirmation of arrival, estimation of when the purchase will arrive, etc.

All purchases will receive a tracking number. Once the item is shipped overseas (for international purchases) I will no longer be able to track it.

If you have a shipping preference (USPS, FedEx, UPS) please notify me before making the purchase. If you want to upgrade to faster shipping you must notify me before making the purchase.

USA: If you do not receive your item within a 10 days CONTACT ME. I ship everything within three to five business days. There is a chance you provided me with the wrong address or the item got lost in the mail. I will have a tracking number on your order to be sure it arrives.

International: If your item doesn't arrive within four weeks, contact me. There is a chance it was delayed for various reason by the postal service. Some countries have stricter shipping restrictions and there is a chance the item was not permitted to enter the country. If they explain it was permitted, please be patient. I know some countries take upwards of 12 weeks to receive packages and mail. Keep in mind I will have a tracking number on all international packages to make sure I am not being cheated. There are those out there who are dishonest and simply want to cause problems for me by making false claims. This has happened to me several times.
Refunds and Exchanges
ALL SALES ARE FINAL! THERE ARE NO REFUNDS!

This applies to 50% upfront payments for commissions as well as partial payments.

Again, there are no refunds and all sales are final.
Additional policies and FAQs
I do not participate in consignment. If you want to sell my work in a non-virtual shop you will need to purchase my work first. Wholesale is an option for my jewelry, but not for sewn/quilted items.

Frequently asked questions

Wholesale availability

I offer a 40% discount for wholesale orders of at least ten items and the total before the discount comes to at least $200.

International wholesale purchases are available, but you must check that all the items are permitted to enter your country. If you order something that contains material that isn't permitted the entire purchase will likely be shipped back to me.

Custom and personalized orders

Contact me privately about this.

Care instructions

Nearly all my quilts/quilted items are wash in cold or warm water, tumble dry low or hang dry, no bleach, no ironing. A few may be dry clean or hand wash only. I will specify this information in the item listing.

Gift wrapping and packaging

I don't offer gift wrapping because of the items are made of fabric and it would require putting it in a box and then another box. That's a bit of a hassle for me and will cost extra on your part. I can instead mark the package as "do not open until: (insert date)" if that's what you would prefer.

Sizing details

I list the size of the items in the descriptions in both inches and centimeters.
