About nearmoderndisaster

Sales 6,874
On Etsy since 2009

Near Modern Disaster is a one-lady operation fronted by Sam Kramer. Sam has been working under the name since 1999 - and Near Modern Disaster has gone through many incarnations over the years. (It was a killer Geocities page back in the day.) Its current (and most memorable) form as a line of greeting cards has been around since January of 2009 when Sam posted her first Valentine’s Day cards on Etsy. She initially touted the line as “cards for people you want to make out with” - a sentiment that still stands.

Though 2009 was the initial start for the stationery line, it was more of a hobby than a business until 2014 - the year Near Modern Disaster debuted at the National Stationery Show in NYC. AKA the year shit got real.

Since 2014, Near Modern Disaster has grown from a line of greeting cards to a small gift line - adding different items over the years like notepads, enamel pins, and magnets. You can now find Near Modern Disaster products in about 350 stores nationwide - and a slew of stores across Canada and New Zealand, thanks to our international distributors.

Shipping
You are responsible for verifying your shipping address. If you have entered an incorrect address when placing your order, contact us immediately and we will make the change before shipping IF YOUR ORDER HAS NOT GONE OUT YET. We ship orders VERY quickly - some within 1 hour of being placed - and cannot be held responsible if your order has already shipped to an incorrect address you have provided. Buyer is responsible for any costs incurred in reshipping.

Domestic orders ship via USPS First Class Mail with a printed label and tracking. Large and/or bulky orders will ship via USPS Priority Mail.

Most domestic orders arrive within 5 business days once they leave our studio in FL, but shipping times are not guaranteed. You will receive a shipping notification when your order goes out - along with a tracking number. USPS will give you an estimated date of arrival. Please note that this is an ESTIMATED date - not set in stone. Orders that "NEED" to be received by a certain date MUST arrange expedited shipping methods in advance. We are not responsible for items that arrive after the USPS "estimated" delivery times.

International orders ship First Class International without tracking. Delivery can take 1-3 weeks, depending on location. Shipping with tracking is NOT CHEAP. If you are not based in the USA and would like to upgrade your shipping options, please contact us BEFORE you place an order so we can discuss options and create a custom listing for you.
