I create original embroidery designs and specialize in iron-on patches. I do NOT do "rush" orders, meaning that while you can upgrade your order to Priority shipping (which should save you a day domestically, I don't know about internationally), that does not mean I will make or ship your order earlier than I normally would. I create most of my designs myself from either my own artwork or others' artwork, but I do use purchased designs as well. I *always* specify if the design was not created by myself, this is both to give credit where it is due but also to let people see what kinds of designs I do in case they want to have me do something for them. I wouldn't want someone seeing an awesome design from UrbanThreads and think I have that level of skill. ;) If I do not say where the design came from, it means I created it in my design software. Btw if I did not create a design I cannot resize it as I don't have the original vector.

Stitch All the Things

I graduated from the University of Southern California in the 90's with a Bachelor's in Creative Writing. I proceeded to use said degree for writing fanfics and roleplaying online, after a few years of which I burned out on writing creatively. I floundered at data entry and retail positions for some years.

I had always loved patches and collected them as a child, only to store them away because I was afraid to ruin them by actually putting them on stuff. I wanted to make money doing something creative so my brother helped me finance my first embroidery machine, a 6-needled beast which more often than not decides not to have all 6 needles work at any given time. Recently I financed my second machine, a 16-needled thing that I am still learning how to handle.

In short, I work at home plying nerds with costume accessories. You're welcome.

Hello! I am Sparky, and this shop is not a hobby for me, it is my business. I pay taxes on it and I do it full time. I have professional equipment and design software. Sometimes I am slow, sometimes I am busy, and I am always slammed when Halloween is approaching.

Patches and Shirts: each item may vary a tiny bit in appearance due to the hoop shifting etc. I will never send you patches that I feel are "messed up" or anything, don't worry. (With my new machine the results will be more professional and this will be less of an issue.) Colors may vary a bit as well but not by a whole lot. If the item is a t-shirt, then expect to wait a few extra days for your item to ship because I don't generally keep t-shirts on hand and will have to go out and buy one for you.

Velcro patches: Occasionally a customer is confused about this so let me explain. "Velcro-backed" means the patch has the hook side of Velcro sewn to the back of it. It will stick to any fuzzy surface, such as a tactical vest. It does NOT come with a corresponding piece of loop sided Velcro.

Returns and exchange details
If there is anything wrong with your order contact me immediately. There are no exchanges/replacements unless there is something wrong with what I sent you. You may need to send me a photo so I can understand the problem.

If you just want to return a perfectly good item because you changed your mind, send me a note. We'll probably work out that you will ship it back to me on your dime, and I will refund you the cost of the item, but not the shipping.

So, I have sent out literally thousands of patches over the years and the plain truth is a few get lost. :/ If your order doesn't arrive in a reasonable amount of time after it has been marked shipped look at your tracking to see what happened.

If it is determined that you did not receive your order because you gave me the wrong address, you are not entitled to a refund or free replacement products. I'm sorry to have to make this rule but so many people over the years have thought I was responsible for giving them replacements when they gave me the wrong address I had to do it. Please make sure I have your correct address! Remember, I use your Etsy address, not your Paypal address.

If you didn't receive your order just because the post office lost your order or something, I'm not technically responsible but I will try to help if I can! This subject is explained further here: http://www.sparkys-stitches.com/faq.htm
Payment
I accept credit cards and Paypal. I used to accept money orders, checks, and even cash but no longer.
Shipping
If you are in the US the maximum amount of time your order should take to arrive after you place it is about two weeks, although you may certainly get it sooner. If you have a deadline let me know when you order so I can try to push it out quicker if possible, but there are no guarantees. In October I will assume EVERY single order is for Halloween and I treat EVERY order then as a rush job. I ship 2 times a week (except in October, then its 3) first class, which takes about three days within the US, and Priority, which usually takes one day less than first class. If you are international and you want to know how fast shipping takes Google it, I am in Sacramento California and again I ship first class and Priority. If you don't Google it than I will, so save yourself some time.

My busiest time of the year is September-October because of Halloween and I easily receive 4-5 times as many orders then as any other time. Chances are I cannot rush your order then, so order your Halloween merchandise early! I also close my shop within a couple weeks of October 31st because invariably people get angry when I tell them they won't get their order in time for Halloween and it stresses me out. Once I am closed I am closed. I also do NOT take custom orders during those months, I am much too busy.

I use Etsy's shipping labels these days. Once I print your label you will get an automatic message from Etsy, and your tracking info can be found there and on your receipt. If you had given me a different address than what's on your receipt and your message says I shipped to the old address, don't worry. For some reason Etsy will not actually change the address on your receipt even if I did change it on the label. I won't be offended if you ask me if I remembered the change the address though.

Btw if you are international and have ordered from me in the past for much cheaper than my shop says it is now: I am very sorry. I was informed by my post office (after 8 years!) that the methods I was using before were actually not legal, despite the postal workers themselves using it before I was doing postage online. I have switched to the correct, legal rates for international packages. I hate to raise the prices by that much after so long but I had to do it.
Additional policies and FAQs
I now offer Velcro-backed patches (up to a certain size). I buy the hook side backing in bulk in black and white only, so I will use one of those, whichever I feel looks best.

If you are interested in having something customized, I will have to see the artwork before I can tell you if I can do it, how long it will take, and what it will cost. (I also need to know what size you want it to be.)

Don't ask me what size patch you need for a child of a certain age or to go on a certain size article of clothing. It is up to you to tell me what size you want. I do not have children, I have no idea how big your kid is. :) (So many people ask me this!)

I am generally not open for custom work between the months of September and October.
