5 out of 5 starsI've ordered from this little shop before, and I really cannot recommend it enough! This little friend was packaged very carefully so they arrived safe and sound. They're excellently made too, I instantly fell in love with their pouty little face!

This is me beginning a sculpture armature at my desk in my Art studio.
Unique, weird and disturbing art, & oddities found here.
Netherworld oddities came about simply as a side effect of my amusement in oddities and an artistic experiment. The idea came to me to sculpt something totally bizarre and float it in a jar as a conversation piece for my husband's office. After seeing the creature, he reluctantly placed it on his desk. To this day it repulses his coworkers.
As a result of the disgusted expressions and shocking "double takes" my first few creations received, I began creating more bizarre sculptures. The stranger, the better! I am very amused by the reactions that my art creates, especially when people ask how something so creepy could have possibly come from such a sweet, quiet girl.
So... this sweet, quiet girl is none other than myself: Pamela Contreras. I am an artist and was a professional photographer for a little over 20 years, I decided to move on from the Photography business and spend a little more time sculpting and loving my husband of 21 years and my 2 kids, aged 18 and 21. (who are also very disturbed by my art) I am also a full time student and grow plants in my spare time.
My sculptures are primarily made using polymer clay, which can be difficult and tricky to work with, but I have a lot of time and patience. I start with an idea, usually inspired by my imagination. To begin most sculptures, I design a metal armature base. This is the foundation to build the clay around and it strengthens the entire piece. I then build up the clay into the desired form and sculpt the details. This can be a long process normally ranging from 3-20 hours depending on the size and details involved in the piece. Everything is completely handmade, several of my items are now made from molds, these molds were also handmade by me and created by using original artwork that was hand-sculpted by myself. Rooting hair and baking the clay comes next and then the process of painting. my processes can be seen on my blog at: http://netherworldoddities.blogspot.com/
Most of my creations are One Of A Kind sculptures.
If you have an idea of something you would like but can't find anywhere, I probably can make it for you. I have made a lot of custom orders based on characters and creatures from favorite movies and books. If you can imagine it, I can make it for you...
So this is my shop, I hope you are as amused as I am. I will continue to disturb the public with my bizarre art. Thanks for visiting.
