About

Southern Gothic of my Youth Fused with the Diversity of my Present

Several years ago I moved to California from Arkansas and my 1830's antique, art, and animal filled farmstead. It was here where we raised our child alongside our endless array of animals including cattle, horses, sheep, goats (my personal favorite), a lone white mule, and many different varieties of turkeys, chickens, pheasants, peacocks, ducks, and geese. We also found ourselves the recipients of various stray cats and dogs as well as wounded or orphaned wildlife, often left at our doorstep. Over the years I cared for and released back into the wild whenever possible many wild rabbits, several birds, the occasional snake, grey squirrels, a flying squirrel, a most interesting bat, raccoons, skunks, opossums (of course we just call them possums in the south least someone think you're putting on airs) and our most memorable animal visitor, a young male black bear. With the help of State Game and Fish we captured one very stinky and grumpy bear who was later released in a safer and more appropriate setting. It was these experiences with animals, both domestic and wild, and the love I have for all living creatures that both inspires and influences much of my work - especially my animal cuff bracelets cast from antique and vintage molds.

I grew up in the American South - a place rich in honeysuckle and wild blackberries, sweet southern drawls and incomparable storytellers, spirit crushing humidity and mosquitoes the size of small dogs. Then I moved to Berkeley, California. OH MY!

Thank you for stopping by. I love custom orders so please don't hesitate to contact me. On one of my first brooches, I used a reprint of a beautiful, sepia-toned, childhood photo of my mother sitting in her mother's lap. I will be happy to create something special just for you with your photos. Please contact me for details.

See something you like but it is sold or you'd prefer it in another size or shape? Let me know. Although I can't duplicate any miniature polymer clay frame (remember each is hand-made and unique, not machine-made!) I can reprint any image and I can create a similar frame.
