Announcement   With pleasure I make blankets and accessories on my sewing machine. I often recycle fabrics, creating new unique items by putting new seams in them. This explains my Dutch store name: New Seams. Recently, I also started designing my own fabrics, using hand carved stamps.

Ben echt heel blij met deze etui. Heel mooi gemaakt en origineel. Ik had het als cadeautje voor iemand gekocht en het was leuk om zo'n persoonlijk en mooi iets te kunnen geven!

About

The story behind Nieuwe Naden.

Nieuwe Naden means 'new seams' in my native Dutch language. I make blankets, pillowcases, scarfs, bags and stuffed toys using a mix of new and recycled materials. Hence the name. Recently, I also started handcarving stamps and creating my own printed fabrics with them.

The fabrics I use I find at the weekly fabric market in Utrecht (held there since 1597!), quilt stores and a local secondhand store. Everything I use is handpicked and carefully pre-washed and ironed.

Three years ago I started sewing, at my aunt Karen's home, making curtains and a bag under her expert guidance. Not long after, a colleague of mine had a baby and I made him a baby blanket. My inlaws then gave me a sewing machine for Christmas, and since then I have always been sewing something for someone.
