About

Jewelry for the journey.

My work is greatly inspired by the ancient mosaic style of the Aztecs, particularly the ceremonial masks such as the Mask Of Xiuhtecuhtli, which were created using hundreds of small chips of turquoise inlayed on cedar wood. These masks were valuable because they were believed to be powerful, deriving some of their power from the energy of the natural materials used to create them. Common mosaic materials were turquoise, obsidian, gold pyrite, pearl, coral, and shell.
