Announcement   Welcome To ~ Nina’s Window

I want to thank you for visiting my site. I hope that you enjoy and like what you see and that you will come back and visit often. I love painting and my hope is that you like what I paint and you will want to have it in your home or office and buy it as gifts for friends and family. I keep my prices down and affordable because I believe that everyone should be able to afford to have original artwork in their home or office.

May God richly bless you. Nina

My friend really loved this bracelet. From my point of view, I thought it was every bit as nice in the round version as the square, which is what I bought for myself. Thank you Nina!

About

My Opened Window!!

After my MS Diagnosis I put a lot of thought to what my future would look like. I prayed and asked God to give me a new passion. I believe that when God closes a door, He opens a window. A friend of mine believed I would be good at painting and gave me some canvas and oils and told me to go for it. To be honest, I thought she was completely wrong! I was extremely active. Rode my bike every day, hiking, camping, mountain bike riding, my hubby and I got certified scuba diving, skiing, water skiing, etc. Painting meant sitting. It seemed boring. I always said "I can't draw a straight line if my life depended on it!" (btw that turned out to be a good thing). I continued praying and asking God for a direction and a passion in my life that would need to replace all the physical activities that I knew I would not be able to do in the future anymore. Kept praying…
A couple of months passed when one morning I got up and had a desire to paint. I said "Nooooo way God, that is boring!" Of course I could not see the future but He could (that sitting was exactly what I was going to be doing!) Later that day I took down the canvases, paints, brushes and things my friend Sue had given me from the top shelf of my closet. (I had put them up because I was not going to be sitting and be bored painting). I remember staring at the blank canvas and feeling lost as I had no idea where to start, how to do it, etc. I persevered with it (good thing for tenacity! I like that word better than stubborn!) I began to really enjoy it and even entered a couple of shows. Got a couple of ribbons and was so excited that I started loving this painting thing and realized I now needed a name for my new passion!
I lived in Colorado for a few years and decided to move back to San Diego. A friend gave me a trivet that said "When God Closes a Door He Opens a Window" as a going away gift. I thought it was cute but thought nothing of the quote. My thought was "if a door closes, there is no window. Just move on!" I'm a black and white thinker and get it done kind of person. One evening I was cooking dinner and I set a spoon on the trivet and for some reason it jumped out at me and I read it with interest. It took my breath away. I realized right then that in God's infinite wisdom He knew that quote was going to be my business name! My active life was a "Closing Door" and my artwork was "My Opened Window." That is how "Nina's Window" came to be. And like they say, the rest is history!
I'm no longer able to walk and I have lost about 75% mobility of my left arm and I've asked Him again that I may be needing a new venue and hoped it could be something with my artwork. He has again provided for me and I have started putting my images on Bookmarks, Coasters, Necklaces, Magnets, Key Chains, and ID Holders. I love seeing my artwork in all these items.

That's my story!

Nina~

I've been painting for 12 years without any formal education in the arts. Thirteen years ago, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, I gave up a very active lifestyle of hiking, swimming, biking. I prayed and asked God to give me a new passion.

I have been painting for 12 years without any formal education in the arts. Thirteen years ago, when I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, I had to give up a very active lifestyle of hiking, swimming, biking and camping. I prayed and asked God to give me a new passion. I credit my success to God and call my painting ability "Nina's Window."
