About

Knitting magic in the shadow of mountains...

Nine Lived Knitters began nearly three years ago when Ed and Laura moved to Brooklyn, New York. Kaylee joined them shortly thereafter, and the three of them existed for a while in a lovely little apartment the size of an average refrigerator.

Ed and Laura very quickly realized that at the rate both of them knitted, they would be buried in yarn creations in a matter of months, so they opened a shop on Etsy. Now they have left Brooklyn behind and moved to Los Angeles, California, but even in the SoCal sun, they are still knitting, because gosh, these nights can get chilly!

-------

Everything we make is hand-knit with a lot of time, love, and individuality. Each piece is unique or made in small batches to preserve the fun of wearing something unique.

Why "Nine Lived" Knitters?
Kaylee the Personal Assistant Cat inspired the name, and it also might be a little tip of the hat to the late, great Diana Wynne Jones and her mighty Chrestomanci book series. If one gets a bit cosmic about it, Kaylee, adopted at age 2 from the NYC ASPCA, must be on at least her third life by now, and moving from big city to big city always feels like a new life for anyone.

  • Nine Lived Knitters

    Owner

Nine Lived Knitters began nearly three years ago in Brooklyn, New York. Three years later, Ed, Laura, and Kaylee the Cat have found themselves in mountainous Los Angeles, still knitting, still drinking tea. Read about each of them below!

  • Laura

    Maker, Designer

Lace ninja and lover of tiny bento boxes, Laura has been knitting for a good long time and has recently branched out into sewing. When not knitting, she's probably watching a movie, dabbling in circus arts, or leaping about in a colorful kilt.

  • Edward

    Maker, Designer

Officially a musician and composer, Edward spends most of his time writing music, mainly for movies. The rest of his time is taken up with writing stories (with words), practicing martial arts, and knitting. Also at: www.edwardunderhillmusic.com

  • Kaylee

Personal Assistant, Head Inspector, Chief Cat, Lap Occupier

Very interested in laps and not particularly interested in behaving like a normal cat, Kaylee spends her time sleeping in ridiculous poses, chasing toys, or loudly demanding food. She is, in fact, no longer as round as this picture might suggest.

Shipping
Our standard shipping is $5.00 for orders shipped within the U.S. If you order one item with another, the shipping fee is reduced to $3.00 per item. (For international orders, feel free to contact us and we will calculate the shipping for you!) When possible, we try to ship via USPS Priority or First Class with a tracking number. (Occasionally, this has not been possible. If you really need a certain kind of shipping method or you wish for a tracking number, please let us know. Shipping methods such as Priority, First Class, and tracking are not always available for international orders.)

We will ship your order the next business day after receiving payment. Most of our orders should arrive to you within a week. However, the postal service is made up of humans, and occasionally our items have taken longer to arrive. If you need to make sure you receive your item by a certain date (for a holiday or a birthday, for example) let us know when you order it and we will do everything in our power to make sure it gets to you in time!

Additional policies and FAQs
We do like to be environmentally conscious, so we do reuse boxes and packaging envelopes. In addition, we do not always use tissue paper or excess plastic unless there are multiple orders or an item is very, very delicate. However, we always use sturdy packaging, and your order will arrive neat, clean, and carefully packaged! If for any reason you need special packaging, let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate your request.
