Here's the wooden parts of this pen being polished with ultra-fine micro mesh abrasives. These remove all visible tool marks and scratches leaving the wood incredibly smooth and ready to accept the lacquer, polish and wax.
All of my pens are individually hand made and finished using only a lathe and hand tools.

About

Welcome to my online shop selling a selection of my individually handcrafted fountain pens and rollerball pens.

Several years ago, I underwent open heart surgery for a genetic condition that was discovered quite by chance. This forced a change of career and I ended up working less hours and having more enforced free time. As I slowly recovered, I found myself spending more time in my shed working with my lathe making bowls, candlesticks, pens and razors etc. I soon had more than enough pens for my own use and was giving them away as gifts to friends and family. Very soon, people were asking me to make them pens and, before I knew it, I was in business!

Someone my wife knew from her job suggested I try selling my pens on Etsy - I'd never heard of it until then. I thought I'd give it a go, but, I needed a name for my Etsy shop first. My nickname has been 'Nobby' for as long as I can remember - I only reveal the origins after several drinks! One day, a witty friend suggested 'Nobby's Nibs' and that, as they say, was that and my Etsy shop opened in October 2014. As well as my Etsy shop, I sell my creations at local craft fairs from time to time.

I now work part-time for a supermarket, but also spend many hours in my workshop practising the ancient craft of woodturning. People often ask me to make them something bespoke and I am happy to accept such requests - feel free to send me a message if you'd like me to make you something.

Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalised orders

I am more than happy to accept custom orders, please contact me to discuss your requirements.

I am sometimes asked if my pens can be engraved. This is not a service I can provide. I would not recommend engraving, but, if you wished to do so, this is something you do at your own risk.

Gift wrapping and packaging

All items are securely packaged. Whenever possible, I use recycled packaging, however, if you'd prefer me not to, please add a note when placing an order.

If you're buying for a gift, I'd be happy to gift wrap your purchases for a small fee. Gift receipts are also available which do not display the purchase price.

Wholesale availability

All my items are individually handmade and each one is unique. I am willing to accept bulk or wholesale orders and am happy to discuss your requirements.
