LOVE this spindle! The weight and spin is wonderful and exactly what I was looking for to ply with. All the extra bonuses was so sweet! I've only spun with angora so I'm looking forward to trying out the alpaca wool! Thank you!!

About

Doing What I Love

I'm 75 and so fortunate to be healthy and doing just what I want in my Retirement. I'm eager to get up in the morning and get to the barn to feed and clean up after my 20 alpacas, 5 sheep, and 2 horses. Most of the income from my sales goes right back into caring for my 4 leggeds.

I love working with my fleeces. I wash, dye, pick, card, and spin the gorgeous fleece that the alpacas grow for me. Some of my fleece is sent to Zeilinger's mill in Frankenmuth, Michigan to be made into roving. Zs also spin my sock yarn. The yarn is then sent on to Northland Woolands in Minnesota to be knit into socks. Some of my fleece is also sent to Stonehedge in East Jordan, Michigan, to be made into my yarn that is listed as mill spun.

I do like to knit but get very bored easily so keep my projects brief, thus my fondness for making hats. It's very difficult for me to make two of the same thing,

My husband died 8 years ago and I have learned that I can manage most of the farm work by myself. After he died, I sold my breeding girls because the birthing was stressful for me by myself. I'm now a fiber farm,

Like my son says, I'm lucky to be doing something that I love that actually pays for itself.

In the fall of 2015, I was contacted by the PBS show called A Craftsman's Legacy to produce a half hour show called The Yarn Spinner (Season 3, Episode 2). You can probably find it on the PBS station that you watch. You can go here to view the short preview video to visit my barn, Eric (the host), and myself. - http://craftsmanslegacy.com/episodes/season_3/Episode-2

If you would like to know more about my daily animal and fiber life, I talk a lot about it on my FaceBook page. Come visit and like me ☺ - https://www.facebook.com/pages/NorthStarAlpacas/277109716245

Welcome to my shop!
I promise to every four legged friend that comes to my farm that they will be treated humanely and with respect - and will never be EATEN. My life is centered around loving and caring for my animal friends. Fortunately, my Etsy sales allows me to pay for their feed, their veterinary calls, and to provide the very best for them.

Fiber folks must be conscientious and dependable because I have never had a bad transaction. If you need time to pay or have to cancel a purchase, just let me know. I'm naievely trusting and trustworthy.
Shipping
Most of my items are shipped in Biodegradable, Recycled, Poly Mailers so that I can ship First class. If the package is over 16 ounces, I will ship Priority.
I ship within 48 hours. If you check my Reviews, you will see that I am quite speedy.
Refunds and Exchanges
If you aren't happy, let me know. I will do an exchange or give your money back, or whatever it takes to have a happy customer. Buying fiber is hard from a picture. Ideally, you need to feel, caress, and, yes, even smell it.
