My Story
Le travail du bois est comme une forme de méditation, qui consiste à prendre des morceaux de matériaux vivants et à les façonner en œuvres d'art. Façonner des choses me procure un sentiment de paix et d'unité avec la terre. Je suis né dans le Kentucky et vis à Frankfort avec ma femme Robin et mon bouledogue. J'ai commencé à aimer fabriquer avec du bois quand j'étais enfant, mais j'ai commencé à apprécier l'art plus raffiné du travail du bois lorsque j'étais en poste au Japon en tant que marine américain. L'art et les techniques anciennes des temples et des reliques fabriqués en bois par des menuisiers traditionnels ont vraiment éveillé mon imagination et mon appréciation. Aujourd'hui, j'utilise cette étincelle pour créer une variété de pièces en utilisant des techniques à la fois classiques et innovantes.
Woodworking is like a form of meditation, taking living pieces of material and shaping them into works of art. Shaping things gives me a sense of peace and oneness with the earth. I am a born Kentuckian who lives in Frankfort with my wife Robin and my bulldog. I began my love of making with wood as a child but began to appreciate the finer art of wood crafting when I was stationed in Japan as a US Marine. The artistry and ancient techniques of the temples and relics made of wood by traditional woodworkers really sparked my imagination and appreciation. Today I use that spark to create a variety of pieces using both classical and innovative techniques.
