About oboedamore

Sales 324
On Etsy since 2018

I am the artistic accompanist to an oboe aficionado.

The oboe d'amore is a member of the oboe family, but its name also means "oboe of love". I have been married to an oboist for a lot of years and although I don't play the instrument, I have learned all of the puns, jokes and geekery through long association with a collection of oboists who love their instruments.

I started designing oboe-themed things for him and realized that I suddenly had a whole collection of double reed themed art: fabrics, bags, stickers, buttons. I've looked for many years for geeky oboe stocking stuffers and little gifts, but they are really hard to find. Especially ones who don't treat the oboe like it's another kind of clarinet. (I played the clarinet and saxophone as a teenager, so I understand the difference.) So that's why this shop is dedicated to all things oboe.

I am primarily a fiber artist and surface designer. I design and digitally print all of the fabrics I use in my shop. I have written a how-to book about digital fabric design, called The Spoonflower Handbook. Although this shop is a new adventure, I currently have several other Etsy shops and have been selling on Etsy for more than 15 years. Each shop has a different specialty.
