Throughout college, I dedicated myself to learning one new craft each year. Before then, I always loved making things, repairing clothes, furniture, anything crafty really. The pandemic really made me assess what brings me joy, what will keep me alive. Crafting is that thing, and I am eager to share what I have made with other people. I have always given things as gifts, especially when I didn't have money to spend on other things when I was putting it into crafts.

I used to have a dream job, then I realized I don't really dream of labor. What I dream of is a community that supports one another and learns from one another. Once I realized that, cultivating/participating in an educational community could be far beyond what I had envisioned. And it meant that finding income would have to be different than I had envisioned. So this is one opportunity I am working on, and I would love to see it thrive.

You can also find me streaming somewhat regularly on twitch. Sometimes it's video games, sometimes I am making things I would like to sell but forget to take good pictures and make a listing. Trying to see that thrive too.

When I decided to sell things, I wasn't sure what to name the shop. I wanted it to be unique to me and my ideas, and represent some of my interests. I started pluralizing octopus as octopeople after seeing in a Phineas and Ferb episode platypi being pluralized as platypeople. I also say platypeople but I am a larger octopus fan than platypus fan.

Once I had decided on the name, I immediately went to creating a logo, because idk I wanted to see what I could make. And thus Mx. Octoperson was born. Angry eyebrows forever.

Frequently asked questions

What's an octopeople?

Just me rebelling against conventional pluralization of octopus. So it's one octopus and 3 octopeople. Octopeople are not octopus-human hybrids, nor do they exhibit any human behaviors beyond what we already have observed. Really just me pluralizing octopus in a bizarre way, letting you all see my weirdness immediately.

Can I be an octopeople?

Sure, why not? In looking up octopeople, it's a lot of ursula-bodied pics and the folks from animal crossing new horizons. So if you want to be zucker in real life, go for it

Sizing details

I try as often as I can to take pictures with rulers so you can see dimensions, but I'm working on taking more pictures like that. Also pictures of earrings being worn, trays holding items. We'll talk to the photographer (me).
