Announcement   Welcome to Odalee Fibers! Odalee Fibers offers lovely hand dyed & hand painted yarn in addition to hand knit items.

I employ a variety of dyeing methods in order to achieve a beautiful spectrum of colors. Yarn is dyed by my hands, in small batches, using professional acid dyes. My colorways contain dyes which are uniquely mixed and created by myself. A variety of high quality fibers in different weights are available for your knitting needs. Organic and humanely raised fiber is important to me and I offer organic, humanely raised small farm yarn that you can use to knit and feel good about the source! The visual impact of superwash yarn is phenomenal, as it takes dye brilliantly, and superwash is also available for your special projects.

If you are working on a large project and are interested in more skeins than what I’ve listed, please contact me to arrange a custom dye spot. I am happy to work with you!

Please find a growing list of my colorways here:

I am also a licensed knitter of the EviePants All In One pattern, the EviePants Honeysuckle Tunic Dress pattern, and the Eviepants Booties & Mary Janes patterns. I can also knit my own patterns. My cardigan patterns are the Caledonia, Gilead, Falling Water, Odile, and Sonian cardigan. My sweater patterns are the Little Star, Ridge & Furrow, & Oxford sweater. My tunic & dress patterns are the Verity, Peregrine, Empress, Andromeda, & Taliesin tunic & dress. I also offer my other designs, such as the Montmartre shrug/bolero, Melusine vest, & the Sweet Dreams sleep sack, . If you are interested in a custom, hand knit item for your little one (or other special someone) please contact me.

I requested a custom skein using the colors from anime character Sailor Jupiter. Emily nailed it! I will be making mittens from the yarn as a surprise christmas gift for my daughter. I am so excited! The next time I need yarn a specific color, I will come back to Emily for it, definitely!

Hello! My name is Emily and I am the owner of Odalee Fibers.

My desire is to create things that are functional, beautiful, and unique. It is my hope that my yarn inspires you to create your own work of art!

Why "Odalee", you may be wondering....as my son was first learning to speak, one of my favorite "invented" words that he jabbered was "odalee, odalee, odalee" as he sprinted in circles around our home. As we cloth diapered him and I knit his wool longies, I discovered a love of dyeing yarn. I had been knitting for years prior to his birth but had never ventured into the world of dyeing. Given my science background and years spent in laboratories, the chemical process involved was right up my alley. What I have truly enjoyed, though, has been the creative expression dyeing provides for me. My inspiration comes from music, photographs, nature, paintings, books, home decorative items, geographic locations, and my family. I love to take a color combination which has caught my eye and somehow makes sense to me and try to re-create it on a skein of yarn.

Quality is very important to me. I use the highest quality yarns and add professional quality dyes and dyeing agents. A great deal of time, attention, and care is given to each of my products. Each skein is individually dyed after undergoing a special washing and soaking process, using non-toxic and environmentally friendly agents. The dyes are then mixed (all of my colorways make use of uniquely mixed dyes), and expertly applied. The yarn is heat processed, then carefully rinsed, squeezed out, and hung to dry. After drying, the yarn is reskeined (re-wound so that the colors distribute evenly throughout the skein). My handknit items are just that; every single stitch is carefully knit by my own hand. A single baby item takes hours to complete. I work very hard to bring you a high quality, beautiful product!

I do very much want my customers to be happy. I want you to be able to buy with confidence. Custom Knits: Your initial deposit is non-refundable, and the full balance is due before work has begun. Please measure your child carefully before purchasing hand knit items.

Please allow 4-6 weeks for the completion of your custom item. I will take progress pictures of your garment, and will ask for your final approval prior to shipping your item to you.

Hand-dyed yarns and fiber are, by nature, varied. Colorway pictures are provided as examples only. Different bases of yarn accept dyes differently and the colorway pictures may not be exactly like what is received. Please remember that monitors vary and colors may show differently from computer to computer. I can not be held responsible for monitor variations in colorways or knit items. If you need to ensure your project has closely matching skeins/fibers please be sure to order enough at one time. Also, everyone defines pooling differently. In general, I believe that pooling is a blob of the same color in an otherwise somewhat random color distribution. For example, three of more stitches of red bunched on top of each other across three or more rows.
Often it is beyond my control as the way the yarn was dyed is a major factor in pooling, and it is not usually something that bothers me aesthetically. If you dislike pooling, please let me know before beginning to knit your garment and I will try to do my best to prevent it from happening. If you feel your yarn is improperly dyed or your knitted item defective, please contact me.

My home is smoke and pet free. Each skein's price is determined by its individual weight.
