OebelandTharpe is taking a short break

Note from shop owner Hello! I am going back to school, and OebelandTharpe will officially be closing soon. I may hold a closeout sale at some point, or I may just pull the plug. Either way, it's been a pleasure, and please feel free to get in touch. I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Thank you,

Sarah is amazing! And this ring is just PERFECT. Now that it is on my finger, it is not getting off again, ever! :)

She's making jewelry now!

How did I get here? I was a lost soul (and an art major) who wanted to make use of her degree. After graduation from the University of Washington's interdisciplinary visual arts program and a move across the country to Chicago, I decided to venture into metalsmithing and jewelry design. After a few classes at Lillstreet Art Center I began receiving compliments on my designs and decided to take the leap.

And then a year after deciding to take the leap - I opened up shop on Etsy!

My designs are inspired by the landscapes of both Seattle and Chicago. I miss the lush flora and fauna of the Pacific Northwest, but being in the city surrounded by amazing architecture is an important contrast that has made me more attentive to my design choices. I try to bring together the organic qualities of the natural world with the structural ones of the man made. With a little yin and a little yang, I've come up with the designs you see here in my shop.

Each piece is handmade with love in my studio in Chicago.

If you are going to return an item please provide a tracking number so I know when to expect your package.

If you have any questions or are unhappy with your purchase for any reason, please convo me!
Payment is due at checkout. All major credit cards, debit and Etsy gift cards are accepted.
Please allow 3-5 business days (M-F) for me to produce your item. I alone am responsible for making everything you see here, packaging, and dropping off at the post office, and I do my best to get things to you as quickly as possible! Each item comes carefully wrapped in a cardboard gift box. If you'd prefer a gift receipt, please leave a note with purchase. All parcels are sent via USPS. Default option is USPS First Class (approximately 2-5 business days domestic shipping, though sometimes a little longer during the holidays) in a padded envelope with delivery confirmation and tracking (if you'd like to add insurance, just ask before purchasing.) I also offer an upgrade to USPS Priority Mail for domestic orders (1-3 business days), which includes delivery confirmation, tracking, and insurance (up to $100.) If you would like to purchase extra insurance for items over $100, please let me know before purchasing, and I will provide you with an updated shipping cost.

International orders will ship via USPS First Class in a secure padded envelope.
International customers are responsible for all fees associated with shipping to their respective countries. Orders that are shipped to countries outside of the United States may be subject to import taxes, customs, duties and fees levied by the destination country. The recipient of an international shipment is responsible for these costs. Customs policies vary widely from country to country, so please contact your local customs office before purchasing if you have any concerns or for further information. When customs clearance procedures are required, it can cause delays beyond original delivery estimates. All international orders will have full value declared on customs forms.

US & INTERNATIONAL - I am not responsible for lost, stolen, undelivered or refused orders. If you'd like to request signature confirmation, please let me know before purchasing. For international deliveries, please convo me, and I'll provide you with an estimate.

EXCHANGES - If you have selected an incorrect ring size, chosen the wrong material, etc., you are responsible for the cost of returning the item. I will ship it back to you via USPS First Class. Your new item will be shipped only after I have received the original back. Please view section below regarding ring resizing.

RETURNS - Please send me a convo if you need to return an item. Items may be returned within 2 weeks of receipt. Customers are responsible for return shipping. I will refund the original amount minus shipping once I have received your return. If for any reason you are unhappy with your item, please don't hesitate to contact me - it's important to me that your experience here is a good one.

CUSTOM ORDERS - All custom orders are final sale. If for any reason you are unhappy, please get in touch with me, and we'll figure something out. I want you to love your jewelry!

RESIZING - I offer one complimentary ring resizing per order (for non stone set rings). I charge $12 to replace stone-set rings, as resizing a stone set ring often means I need to create a brand new ring. Applicable to all rings, if you find that you need a second resizing, I charge $15. Here is a link to the listing for these services: https://www.etsy.com/listing/271347317/ring-resizing. If you have any questions regarding ring sizing, please don't hesitate to convo me! :)

If you require a second resizing, regardless of ring style, I will charge 15% of the original cost, plus return shipping.

If for any reason you are unhappy with what you've received, please let me know right away. If you're not happy, I'm not happy, and I will do whatever I can to make your experience with my shop an enjoyable one!

Have a question? Just want to chat? Please feel free to convo me!
Additional policies and FAQs
> Not sure about your ring size? A printable ring sizer is available at: http://www.ringsizes.co/resources.html or visit your local jeweler. If you choose to print the sizer, please be absolutely certain that you uncheck the "fit to page" box on your print menu page, otherwise your ring size will be incorrect.

>Bangle Sizing: My bangles are offered in three sizing options - small, medium, and large. To determine your size, simply take a tape measure, join the tips of all your fingers together (as if putting on a tight-fitting bangle,) and wrap it as tight as you can around the widest part of your hand OR take a 1/4" wide strip of paper and wrap it around your hand (marking length with a pencil), then measure the strip of paper. Additionally, if you have a bangle at home, you can measure its diameter from inside wall to inside wall and determine your size.

Circumference Diameter
Small: 7 1/2" 2 3/8"
Medium: 8 1/4" 2 5/8"
Large: 9" 2 7/8"

> Don't see your size available? Please feel free to convo me, and I'll let you know if I am available for a custom order.

>All metals will tarnish over time depending on air, perfumes, skin acidity, and many other environmental factors. Polishing cloths are available online and at jewelry stores (though in many cases I find natural patinas to be quite beautiful!)

Oxidized (patinated) copper and silver is done by hand and may result in subtle differences of tone and color - it is not a black plating on the silver. The blackened color may fade and change over time and with wear creating an aged look.

To sustain the look of your new jewelry it is best to avoid wearing pieces while sleeping, showering, swimming, etc. Try storing the piece in a plastic zip bag while not wearing if you are concerned about tarnishing.
