Announcement   What makes your heart skip a beat? I’ve always loved old architecture. Solid lines, gingerbread, big open porches, dentil moldings. Recreating that beauty into a miniature – a wearable something - is satisfying and delightful. Whether working with rich gemstones or vintage filigree, each creation has my heart put in it. An eclectic beader, that’s what I am. For a time, I’ll dive into one material then into the next. But my detail and style is always there. Let me create something for you.

About

Creative Crafter falls for Beads

From a family of crafters, my great-grandmother put tea towels and embroidery thread in my hands before I could read. Throughout my military and public service careers, creating and crafting were my outlets. After trying many crafts, I've discovered the love of beading. When we moved to the little river town of Occoquan, Virginia, it seemed an ideal spot for a bead shop. We were thrilled to open Off the Beading Path in the summer of 2008. The eight years of providing inspiring supplies and classes to jewelry artists was a pleasure. But when grandchildren came, we wanted more time and less distance. We made the difficult decision to close the shop and move closer to family.

During the transition of moving and rediscovering my own great bead stash, I took a few classes and remembered how much I love to create. Slowly, but joyfully, designing is again my focus.

As 2018 circles round, I'm excited to rediscover my focus on making - on creating my own style. With inspiration all around me, the Etsy shop has been redesigned to feature my newest designs. Some select supplies will continue in the shop because.....well, beads!

Happy creating!

My journey was a long, winding one. First, I explored many careers, learning along the way. Creative outlets brought balance. Then, teaching/supplying other artists. Now I get to be the artist. Browse a bit. I hope you’ll find something you like.

Frequently asked questions
Care instructions

As with all hand-crafted jewelry, we recommend removing before swimming or bathing. Most items – plated and sterling – can be easily cleaned with a polishing cloth. Sterling items can be stored in a zip baggie with an anti-tarnish strip to avoid tarnishing.

Wholesale availability

If you are interested in wholesaling our jewelry designs, please convo me for information about our wholesale requirements.

New Old Stock (NOS)/Vintage Items

Our NOS and vintage items are all unused stock, unless noted. While these items have never been used, the may show some age such as oxidization of metal, aging of surfaces, tiny nicks or chips, and so on. Items for which we can confirm their age or time-period are listed as such. For items we cannot discern the time-period, we’ve listed them as “NOS.” Vintage and NOS items are sold “as is.”

Metal Allergies or Concerns

All ear wires are lead and nickel safe. However, if you are very sensitive, ear wires can be replaced with precious metal or niobium findings for a small additional charge. Hand-painted or patinaed items have been sealed or coated to protect from wear. Note – upgrades are available for ear wires to be changed to precious metal or niobium.

Discounts and Sales

Items purchased on sale or with discounts are not returnable. Any coupon codes are for item only, not shipping, wholesale orders, custom orders, sales tax, or previously placed orders. Multiple coupons/discounts may not be used at the same time.

Colors and Item Descriptions

While I do my best to describe and show the color of items as accurately as possible, the variation of monitors, lighting, and devises makes this difficult. Additionally, some items are essentially camera shy – they only show their true beauty in person. If you are uncertain of the color of an item, convo me and we can talk it out.

Order Processing

Items usually ship within 72 hours of your order. Business days are Monday through Saturday with some exceptions. Delivery depends on the postal service, weather, etc. Delivery address accuracy is important since it is difficult to edit addresses. We depend on you to provide accurate shipping information to avoid any delays or returns. International addresses must fit USPS formats and length requirements. Note - check shop announcements for updates on any possible delays.

International Orders/Shipping

Eligible Countries: To ensure safe transit of items, I follow the advice of the US Postal Service for a list of current countries. Visit www.usps.com for this current list of countries.

Product Value/Gifts: Customs Disclosure forms must be completed accurately. This includes statements of item value as well as purchase of merchandise. For this reason, I can not mark your purchase as a “gift.”.

VAT / Duty / Customs / Local Postal Fees:
Any VAT, Duty, Customs or local postal processing fees you may incur are the responsibility of the buyer.

Shipping

Items are shipped using USPS First Class and USPS First Class International. This is the most accurate and timely from my business end. US items will include tracking to the destination. Many International packages will have tracking to the International Service Center only. Note – we do not add insurance to your package. Please ask for it if you have concerns. Additionally, upgrades are available for faster shipping if desired.
