About

Wild Adornments for Carbon-Based Lifeforms!

I was born and then I started making stuff. For a brief period of time I worked in a windowless building at a multinational corporation. Before I was able to permanently damage myself or anyone else, I quit, sold everything, moved to Colorado and started making things to sell. Now, I pretty much a) design stuff, b) make stuff, c)sell stuff and d) drink coffee. You can find me at my favorite local bookshop reading, designing things in my sketchbook or (of course) drinking coffee.

  • Sketchbooks and Journals

Creator, Inspiration, Keeper Of Important Ideas

Most of my designs start right here, with pen, pencil paper and a luddite laptop! I am NEVER without a sketchbook or two. Or three.

  • Hammers

    Tools

Possibly my favorite tools: Grungy, dinged up hammers from Denver estate sales, basements and alleys. My fave is the one marked down from $3 to $2.

  • Fabulous Views

    Inspiration

When I go up to the mailbox, this is what I see (at least during the summertime). Western Meadowlarks call to each other, sometimes foxes or elk stroll through our yard and I always wave to the neighbors, even if I have no idea who they are.

  • Hummingbirds

    Assistant

These little charming monsters are extremely territorial. They buzz by my ears, dangerously close to my head to warn me that I'm in their space when I walk onto the deck to photograph the clouds.

  • Rainbows

    Assistant

The clouds and the rain are a dominant feature of the landscape just outside my studio window. The West is in an almost constant state of drought: We never complain about precipitation and are rewarded by predictable rainbows after a storm.

  • Beetles

    Assistant

Beetles and other insects are a favorite inspiration!

  • Ethel (aka ETSY)

    Inspiration, The Maker Gene

My grandmother's name was Ethel. When she was a child growing up in Jersey City, her nicknames were either PINKIE (Because she always wore pink) or ETSY (Short for Ethel). She was the original "Etsy."

  • The Goddess

    Inspiration

Praised be the Goddess of the caffeinated beverage, travel safety and convenience parking places.

  • Cartoons

    Creator

I pretty much do the same things I did when I was 13 years old. This is a cartoon from 1976.

  • R & D (New Stuff)

    Experimental, New Designs, Playing Around

  • Clouds

    Inspiration

Were there clouds like this in Denver? If so, I never noticed them. Each night before sunset, this is the kind of display that magically appears in the sky. Mostly I just look. Sometimes I photograph. If the hummingbirds let me.
