Next up, another model for me of my pretty Oldenburg mare! Kelly is just fantastic to deal with, very responsive, and fun to bounce ideas off of! 5 out of 5 starsI ordered a horse model for my sister of her very complicated paint for Christmas, little did I know that my sister had ordered a model for me as well of my horse! On Christmas day we both received our gifts and couldn't believe that we had both gotten a horse from Kelly! She had kept the secret and played along, even going so far as to make sure the packages had separate return addresses so we couldn't guess and using different sized boxes. All of her extra work only added to how amazing the gifts were. Not to mention how beautiful our models are. Did I mention how complicated my sister's paint must have been? Yet every marking is perfect, the color of his coat is spot on, and my favorite detail is his eyes that she spent extra time on. Mine was beautiful as well and a perfect keepsake of my best friend. Thank you!!!!

I've still not received it yet but the pictures she sent me look incredible! (I wanted to leave a review before it expires tomorrow) It's a surprise gift for my sister whose life was this horse growing up. I can't wait :D I'll add a picture when it arrives if I can!

My Story...well, some of it :)
I started my Etsy shop in 2007/2008 as an eager, new jewelry designer. I was ecstatic when I made my first sale about a week later, and ran downstairs to tell my dad.
It was a silver plated amber necklace.
I no longer work in silver plate, my design aesthetic changed a lot as well as my passion for jewelry and vintage. I opened an additional Etsy shop (to focus on those things) called VintageWhimZ and decided to rename this Etsy shop (formerly "OfNatureDesigns") to KellysCustomHorses.
I have intermingled my art, jewelry and model horse customizations through this Etsy site for a long time, but I felt it was time to redirect my branding and use this site only for horse customizations. Horses have been and always will be a huge part of my journey. I have three of my own; Harley, Niko, Jonnie. Being around horses most of my life has given me the ability as an artist to accurately capture their unique qualities and notice the little details while creating your treasured keepsake.
I wanted to share my model horse customs with others which is why I started this Etsy shop. Due to personal reasons I took a long break, but I’m back now, better than ever and ready to make people smile again with a timeless piece resembling their beloved family member. <3

Custom and personalized orders
* I am now accepting customs! Customs take 4-8 weeks for delivery once I receive the model I will be painting on.
* I do NOT provide the base model. My clients usually purchase my Etsy listing, then ship me a model they already have, or they order one offline and have it mailed directly to me. In the unique circumstance you are not able to order a model yourself, I can order one for you and will charge you for the model cost on top of the commission price.
*I keep my clients updated weekly on my progress by messaging through Etsy. I will message detailed photos taken in inside and outside lighting of the finished piece for approval before shipping. Once the model is approved, I will ship out via Etsy shipping.
Care instructions
My customizations should be handled in the same manner you would handle a piece of art or an out of the box Breyer model. Even though I seal my work with an anti-yellowing varnish, your model can still become scratched or damaged if not handled properly. You can dust the model with a soft, non abrasive cloth or duster. You can also use a damp soft rag as well with no soap/cleaner.
Gift wrapping and packaging
I use bubble wrap, tissue paper and may use a recycled box to ship your model. I usually ship your model in the same packaging I received it in.
What is included with a customization?
My models have qualified as LSQ and PSQ quality. I start by grinding, and remodeling the model if needed. I carve out the hooves. I change the gender if needed at no additional charge. The model is then sanded, primed, and airbrushed. Airbrushing involves at least 3 - 7 coats of thinly applied paint. After the airbrushing is dry, I hand paint all the details. After 24 hours I varnish the model with several coats and gloss the eyes and hooves. The model is shipped out after having ample drying time. My signature will be included on the belly. I can add your horses name upon request.
