Understanding Our Wonder
Ani (Hi). I just wanted to say a Chi Miigwetch (Big Thank You) for coming to my store. I am the owner and artist of Ojibwe Wonders. My daughter is the other artist. I get asked why I named my store Ojibwe Wonders, it is really quite simple, we are from a tribe in Michigan called Ojibwe and we want to share the wonders of our culture and the fantasy realm with you.
I am a storyteller and express it through many forms of art. The pen, lens and brush are extensions of me and help me create unique blends. A lot of my work comes from dreams and experiences. Some of the experiences that shaped who I am as an artist and person were growing up on a reservation surrounded by language, culture and elders. Also living in a one room house in the country with no running water affected my creativity.
At the moment I live in the Black Hills of South Dakota which has unpredictable weather and unexpected hidden inspiration. I am blessed with a loving supportive husband and three wonderful kids who inspire me everyday. I spend most of my time at home with my family, in my studio or organizing.
When I look at our art I cannot pick just one favorite, however I think I can pick one out of each gallery. Out of the bookstore it would have to be "Hidden Powers", my first published book. In the Photography Gallery it is the piece called "Fierce Dream" because every time I look at it I think of the warriors of our people and the strength. "Respected Nibi", which means respected water is my favorite out of the Art Gallery because of its meaning. Ojibwe women are water carriers and protectors. I love her cleansing the earth with the water. In the Fantasy Gallery, which is my daughter's domain I have to say I love the majestic purple dragon "Fierce Pride". And last but not least is the Cradleboard Gallery, my favorite here is the small toy cradleboards because the children get to play and learn with them.

Artist
I am a young fantasy steampunk artist, unique in the way that I see things and act. I am a shy, quiet girl who speaks volumes without saying a lot. I still believe in magic and love its many creatures. I share the magic around us through art.
