Arts & Farts & Crafts
Hello, new friend! My name is Jen, so nice to meet you!
I was born in the small town of Manistee, Michigan in 1984. I have been a creative cat my whole life. A pack-rat from birth, I have always looked at everything as a potential masterpiece. I began to take art seriously in high school and took every art class I could! I have studied post-high school in both studio arts and fine art photography, filling the margins of every note I took with little doodles of course. While photography still interests me, I have found my ultimate love to be illustration.
I openend my Etsy shop officially in 2008 but, as happens with me, I didn't start to take it seriously until much later. It wasn't until early 2011 when I randomly asked followers on my blog to send me drawing requests to an astoundingly positive response that I thought, "Hey. I could do this!" I began to offer illustrations and later, after coming upon my first Badge-a-Minit button machine at the thrift shop I work at, started selling pins of my drawings. It's now expanded into earrings, brooches, greeting cards and so much more!
I closed my shop in the summer of 2013 to focus on getting married! I took a long hiatus to work a normal retail job and get some real life experience. I found out that the real world stinks and isn't for me. So I jumped back into the shop head first in the summer of 2014.
The goal for this shop from here on out is to keep selling my own art and craft projects but to also bring an element of kitsch into the mix, in the form of antiques, vintage fabrics and clothing, bric-a-brac and jewelry.
I hope in the future to open up my own shop here in Rochester.
Thank you for browsing and/or purchasing!
