About oldfriendhandmade

Sales 133
On Etsy since 2018

The mixed metal and enamel jewelry I create, under the name Old Friend, is a true reflection of the aesthetics that bring me joy - bright, playful colors and delightful combinations of geometric shapes.

With a lifelong background in art, both through practice and education, I have been heavily influenced by many disciplines studied, including through a degree in fine art/painting, training in metal-smithing, weaving, and stained glass, and countless other crafty skills I have picked up along the way.

Enameling has been a newfound love for me in just this past year, discovered through the experimentation of different jewelry techniques and the curiosity of always seeking a new hobby. All of my enamel work is completely self taught and I enjoy the process of incorporating new skills and approaches into my jewelry line everyday.

The name of my company, Old Friend, is a tribute to the many old friends from my beloved previous job in a retirement community, where I ran a memory support program. Each piece of Old Friend jewelry is named after a real elderly friend who inspired me from the community. You can read more about the stories behind the names on my Instagram @oldfriend.handmade

Thank you for stopping by my shop, I am super grateful that I get to do what I love everyday and am very proud of the work it took to get to this point.

XO Kelley

Frequently asked questions
Customized Color Options

Each and every style of earrings can be customized in any color within my color chart. Please click through to pictures in each listing to find the color chart and then make sure to leave me a note with your choice once you confirm your purchase. If no other color is requested, I will make them in the color advertised in the main listing.

Taking Care of Your Enamel Jewelry

Each earring is made out of copper covered in layers of glass, which is the enamel. Please take care of your earrings as you would any other glass item, as they are prone to cracking or chipping if handled haphazardly.
Your earrings may also contain other metal components, such as copper or brass, which will incur a natural patina or discoloration over time and with exposure. If you would like to keep your pieces looking shiny and clean, a simple rub with a jewelry cloth will work fine.

Gift wrapping and packaging

Every order is packaged securely in a bubble mailer to ensure safety during transit. Depending on the size of your order, I also contain it in a variety of cute boxes, hand-stamped with my logo. The packages are modest, but attractive and will do well as a gift, so at this time I am not offering additional gift-wrapping services. Let me know in a note at check-out if you would like me to include a handwritten message on pretty cardstock to your recipient.
