we heart books. here's our story:
a few weeks back i became the new executive assistant to the head honcho of a lot of things, one being an online used book store, a surprisingly lucrative operation. my office sits atop a large warehouse full of large crates, which are full of many used books. the ones in good condition are sorted, priced and listed online. the crappy ones (and there are a lot of crappy ones) are doomed to the recycling bin, never to be read again. this just breaks my nerdy nostalgic heart. i have been spending my lunch breaks rifling through the recycling, trying to salvage every line of literature i can before they're turned to mush. i adopt them and bring them home where they are loved and live happily on my shelf. i am a book rescuer.
it has come to tim's attention that we will soon have more books than space, as our itty bitty glover park apartment is not a warehouse. that's when we thought, "HEY! OTHER PEOPLE SHOULD ENJOY THESE BOOKS TOO!" we'll do the search and rescue, then place these treasures with proper owners who know they're too precious to go to the mill. like a dog shelter, only for books.
and the goodies? we eat a lot of sweets. a lot. and we will share those with you too.
so here we are, oldies and goodies- our vintage books and bake shop is born. party time!
