Thank you for being interested in the story of Old New House! We are Melissa & Dave - the curators and creators behind ONH and what began as a hobby in 2010 has turned into a life passion that we pour ourselves into every day.

Our story is ultimately about telling and connecting to the stories of others through items of the past and through the items we dream up. We view our items as a unique collection of functional, well crafted and special olds + news for the house that you will have a tough time finding anywhere else in the world.

WHO WE ARE
We are a happy New York couple who sell antique and semi-antique rugs as well as vintage furniture + household items, sometimes upcycling / updating or refurbishing items or creating new items out of old things along the way. We know just as much as the next person that investing in something like an authentic handmade rug or a piece of furniture or an original work of art is a big decision to make due to the prices and to how it is going to match everything else that you have in your home. We try to make the decision a bit easier by offering a 3 day return policy on all of our items.

If the piece you purchase just doesn't work, send it back to us or trade it in for something else within 3 days of receiving it. :-)

Returns and exchange details
NOT HAPPY?
Refunds are gladly given provided it meets our terms of items eligible for return. If the item does not wind up being a good fit for your home or purpose, we will accept returns with the understanding the buyer will pay for original and return shipping, at cost, which may or may not be in the listing at the point of sale. For questions on actual costing, contact us in advance. The seller will only pay shipping in instances where an incorrect item had been dispatched that does not meet the description in the photo, unless otherwise indicated as a representative item further detailed as multiples in the description of the product. The seller cannot be held responsible for assumptions a buyer may make. Contact us in advance for any questions on sizing.

Returns are accepted as stated above except for in the instance when a negotiation on price is made between buyer and seller or a "best offer" is accepted by the seller -- in this instance it is assumed, as it is stated in our policy, that all sales are final unless otherwise made known in advance.

All sales are final for products shipped outside of the contiguous United States.

We are only able to accommodate exceptions to our 3 day return window if it is made known to us in advance of delivery.

Refunds may take 7-8 days to process, as we validate ship costing against actual audited invoices.

In the event the buyer opts to use their own return label, they must also select full insurance at the order amount.

DAMAGES
It is the buyers responsibility to make notation of damage to packages at the point of receipt by proof with photos while your delivery courier is present, and hand notation at the point of signature. This is to ensure appropriate insurance claims and coverages will apply. Without this documentation, unfortunately, the carriers will construe this as acknowledgement of acceptable condition. This goes for tears and cuts, whether concealed or apparent, as well as possible water damage or other. When we receive an order it is assumed delivery recipient may have an authorized representative to receive the item on their behalf, whether it is the purchaser or someone present on location at point of receipt.

We will look at every instance of damaged mail on a case-by-case basis, so no matter what, always contact us if the shipment arrives in a less than satisfactory way!

MONEY METHOD
We accept PayPal + direct check-out through Etsy. Just let us know if you need us to place an item on hold. A piece can be placed on hold for up to 3 days.
Shipping
SHIPPING INFO
We have a dedication to shipping all purchased items out within 1-2 business days after payment is received unless the item notes otherwise. Our standard shipping prices attached to each item (as well as free outbound shipping for rugs) include: economy shipping via USPS + delivery confirmation so that we can provide you with a tracking number + insurance for items valued over $50. For big size boxes, we ship out via UPS Ground with tracking + insurance for items valued over $50. At times freight shipping may apply, whereas true costing may be rolled into the advertised price. Contact us for specifics on return costing in advance.

**If you need next-day or expedited service or would like to have insurance on your item that costs less than $50, then please send us a note and we would be happy to add one of those options on for you prior to your check-out.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING?
Yes, we offer international shipping on all of our items! For packages over 40 pounds, $3000, or dimensions of 12"x18"x24" and larger, we recommend the buyer obtain a shipping agent to facilitate import. If you send us a message about an item that you would like internationally shipped, and provide your postal code, we will find out the rates and charge accordingly. Just inquire! International sales are ALL SALES FINAL at the point of leaving our doorstep. In the event of an unresponsive recipient for customs clearance, as the buyer outside of the contiguous United States you may be required to not only pay for forwarding fees back to us, but also the cost of re-shipping the item to you with corrected address. If an item is returned to us for failure of contact or communications with couriers or customs, you are forfeiting your purchase, and we reserve the right to keep the item in event of re-routing back to the shipper.

SALES TAX, TARIFFS, AND DUTIES
Sales tax is assumed as a line item at point of checkout based on the destination ship zip code. International customers must be prepared to pay up to 35% in taxes, tariffs, and/or duties.

Many of the items we have for sale are vintage and therefore in used, imperfect condition. We try our very best to take very accurate photographs and to mention in the listings any and all areas of concern on an item. However, we are not perfect and it is certainly possible that we might miss something. If you ever have any questions or concerns about one of our items, please ask before purchasing and we will be happy to go the extra mile with more photographs and/or details. In all circumstances, please feel free to contact us! You, the customer, our are number one priority. We want you happy!
