About

///// Jewelry by Chance /////

free spirit ::: defined as a person with a highly individual or unique attitude, lifestyle, or imagination.

I am a social worker by profession but I've always been influenced by my mother's creativity and determination. As a youngster, I remember her creating arts and crafts in our garage then bumbling us to an art fair across Michigan to sell her wares. All while maintaining a full time job...or two. Our summers were filled with dreaming, creating and road trips.

In the Summer of 2011, OLIVE AND INDIO began with a simple goal in mind: create simple yet wearable jewelry for the free spirited. I started by making beaded and chain jewelry to share with friends and family. What began as a small endeavor transitioned into the pieces being picked up by local boutiques and sold across the land. With the help of Etsy, I could reach more people and be inspired by other creative folks.

Each OLIVE AND INDIO piece is created in the 110 year old home I share with my husband and small pup, Rafferty Jones, in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. Finding ETSY turned out to be the perfect opportunity to balance my daily profession and my jewelry making at my own pace. I make pieces that are easy to throw on with a casual tank or a little black dress. You decide! While creating, my mind always wanders to the barefoot dancing bohemian somewhere inside all of us. I'm inspired by travel, culture, color and nature. I invite you to layer up with some of our necklaces, earrings and bracelets and dance around your space! ★

    I started making beaded and chain jewelry in the summer of 2011 with the idea of making simple bohemian designs I could wear and share. Things took off from there and here we are today!

Additional policies and FAQs
PLEASE NOTE: I use antiqued brass items which are polished for protection, however they naturally develop a patina finish. You can google ways in which to clean brass with household items such as ketchup and a toothbrush. :) There is typically a wax finish to delay the brass from aging.

My items are handmade which means there may be small differences between two similar items. This gives them character and holds true to the handmade lifestyle.

Finally, if you intend to leave anything other than positive feedback, I ask that you contact me first so that I can have the opportunity to address any concerns. I truly value my customers and I want you to have a fabulous Etsy experience!

THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO VISIT MY HUMBLE LITTLE SHOP!
