Olive O. grew up in the South during the Great Depression; her family didn’t have much and they reused what little had. Her childhood experiences created a lifetime of thriftiness and recycling however, crafty genes were never expressed in her. (I got those from my mom.) I’ve been dabbling in all sorts of crafts since the 1976 release of Childcraft’s Make and Do, but currently have a solid 20 year relationship with a needle and thread. Some time ago, I began experimenting with silk screen printing and am now using it as a way to give secondhand items new life and a second chance to make someone else happy.

Olive O. Home is sustainable creativity. I make items to reuse and repurpose material and upcycle the-not-so-pretty. I keep an eye out for color, vintage designs, and the peculiar. I enjoy the process of sewing by hand and how it lends itself to creating unique items however, I often depend on my machine to help speed up my pace. My prints are made with whimsical, yet simple designs that start a conversation or offer a diversion.
