Announcement   Welcome to On a Branch!

**Due to an impending strike by Canada Post, I will be temporarily closing the shop on Sunday, June 26 at noon EST. All orders made before that time will ship out by Tuesday, June 28, 2016. The shop will remain closed for the duration of the strike and/or negotiations and will re-open immediately following its conclusion. However, I will still be available to answer questions and concerns via conversations. My apologies for the inconvenience.

On a Branch Soaps are hand crafted in small batches using a traditional soapmaking process. Individually developed recipes using quality vegetable oils and butters and plant essential oils result in a lightly scented, well lathering, long lasting bar of soap that is biodegradable.

After a curing period of 4 weeks, each bar of soap is wrapped in decorative, recyclable paper and hand stamped with my blue bird of happiness. The decorative paper means the soap is ready for gift giving as is. The little blue bird ensures that each bar of soap is ready for use. Since i designed the bird and hand carved the stamp I use, each bar of soap truly is an expression of the artisan who made the soap.

I use only natural essential oils to send my soaps rather than synthetic fragrance oils. All of my soaps contain no palm oil. I have chosen a blend of vegetable oils for my soaps that result in a hard, long lasting bar of soap with great lather that is gentle on the skin. I like to enhance the gentle cleansing ability of the soaps with various herbal infusions and clays.

About

All natural hand crafted soaps

I f asked when, how and where On a Branch Soaps began, I would have to answer that it began when I was 5 years old, making mud pies on the side of our dirt road in Newfoundland.

It continued when I was 7 years old, to the great delight of my mother, by mixing her various cosmetics and toiletries together in the bathroom of the two storey house built by my grandfather.

A seed was planted in my 21 year old brain by the discovery of an old soap making book found in a used bookstore in Guelph, Ontario.

The confidence to mix the various ingredients required to make soap was gained from a degree in applied chemistry and biology.

Many years later, inspiration was found from spending my days with two young boys that make me laugh, from the books that have been my companions since childhood and from the little bird perched on a branch outside my window.

While caring for two little boys and trying to restore order to our home, I like to create soaps and body care products that add a touch of luxury to the everyday moments: gentle, moisturizing soaps, soothing lip butter and exfoliating hand and body scrubs.

Shipping
I ship worldwide using Canada Post. My shipping days are Monday to Thursday. Any purchases made from Friday to Sunday will be shipped on Monday. This will prevent the item(s) from being held in a hot warehouse, not an ideal environment for soap, over the weekend.

In Canada, please allow 1-2 weeks for delivery. In United States, please allow 2-4 weeks for delivery. For international orders, shipping is via Canada Post (surface) and will take approx. 6 weeks. According to the Canada Post website, international surface shipping should take between 4-6 weeks but from experience lately, it takes closer to 8 weeks for delivery. Shipping via Air is available but is noticeably more expensive. Please contact me personally for a quote if you would like Air shipping.

Any import fees, duties and taxes incurred as a result of international purchases are the responsibility of the purchaser.
Refunds and Exchanges
It is important to me that you are happy with your purchase from On A Branch Soaps. If the product is defective or damaged upon receipt of your order, the price of the item will be refunded. Due to the personal nature of our items, we cannot exchange items or refund used items.
Additional policies and FAQs
Usually I ship orders within 1-2 days of payment. However, I will be away from August 11-14. Any orders placed within thus time will shop between August 15-16. I apologize for any inconvenience. If you have any questions or concerns, please send me a message.
