Super soft and long lasting tee's! She is nothing short of amazing to work with...as always a super thank you for helping my autistic son with some clothes that actually fit, last and that he wants to wear!

THANK YOU does not say enough...She is the best to work with...she takes the time to know my son's needs, and goes for it. They are perfect, he LOVES them all and gets compliments at school....it seems so simple, to just get a tee...but not when your child is Autistic and does not fit well in typical clothing...so things like this are hudge....will buy from again for sure. This is our second order, and the old ones are still in great shape...despite wearing one of them weekly...sometimes multiple times in the same week :) What can i say...he loves them.

Redrafting my raglan shirt pattern to reduce a bit of bulk! (Only slight changes-but good changes)

About

One part imagination, three parts hard work, a whole bunch of good fabric, and one part rain.

I remember sitting at my mom's craft table doing projects with her when I was young. And I remember sitting at her old Singer sewing machine, the old kind with the iron pedal that was wide and spelled "Singer." Cool machine. And it came with a lot of history.

One of my first real independent sewing projects happened as a teenager. I found a king-size bed skirt that we were getting rid of and I thought: "Hey, I like that silky fabric in the middle; I bet I could make a cool skirt out of that." And so I did. I used a skirt I got in Key West for my pattern. Oh, Duvall Street. Thank you.

Fast forward. My college graduation present was a sewing machine of my own. A second hand Bernina that sews beautifully. Never mind I didn't take a single sewing class or make more than a couple of projects during my five years of college. My love for fabrics and sewing was rekindled and I began sewing again.

Fast forward a couple more years. My husband and I welcomed a beautiful baby girl into our lives. When she was eight or nine months old I made her my first homemade shirt. My mother-in-law walked me through the process. I was in awe at my simple creation. And I was hooked. I began reading, watching tutorials, and asking questions from other talented people about how to make clothes. I started making more kinds of articles for my little girl and occasionally for myself or for gifts.

A beautiful piece of fabric can keep me daydreaming all day about what I'll do with it. On more than one occasion sleep eludes me and I end up drawing or writing down my ideas in the wee hours of the morning. Sometimes, mid-conversation, I completely revert back to discussing my newest garment idea or fabric selection. My husband is really good at acting like fabric is the most amazing thing ever and listens so patiently, so politely, so lovingly while I talk some more about it.

I especially love fabrics with fun, colorful prints, knits--oh I'm so grateful for knits, and hand-made clothes that are comfortable and easy to move and work and play and live in. I detest the feeling of my clothes restricting my movement--especially as a mom. I'm biased towards cotton. Big time. I can appreciate the stretch lycra gives and the beauty (with the price tag) that comes with silk and linen, too.

As for our name, One Part Rain, it comes from an analogy my husband and I have. We love working outside and watching the miracle of life unfold from a tiny seed. In order for that plant to succeed it needs rain. We feel like the same is true for us. Rain is like a blessing from heaven. In order to be happy we need to live in such a way that we grow in favor with our Maker. Mercifully, He sends the rain.

I'm the one-woman show behind One Part Rain. Though, there would be no OPR without the support and encouragement of my husband and our two beautiful daughters who inspire me to create beautiful baby clothes first and foremost for them.
