About

A dreamer . . . .

I've loved pottery since I took my first class in high school. I'm intrigued by everything about it . . . the clay, the wheel, mixing the glazes, the unpredictability of the firing, and to my surprise, even the marketing!

But it's taken me a while! I went on to college and studied business, married a great (& patient!) guy, started a family, and began a career in social work. I've had a couple different jobs and lots of changes through the years, but always there has been my family, and always there has been the clay.

My 'hobby' has grown into a business slowly. First, I bought a used wheel, then I took some community classes, then bought a kiln, then had the great fortune to work with my friend and mentor, potter Eric King.

Finally, on a starry winter night in northern Wisconsin - the kind of night where anything seems possible(!) - I began to think about starting a pottery business. It has taken a few years, but here I am!

Pottery life is a great life! Thanks for shopping and for your interest in me!

Welcome & thank you for visiting my Etsy Shop!

A few notes about my pottery . . .

* Because I make mostly functional pottery, glaze stability and safety is a huge concern for me. I mix all my own glazes, and have decided that some materials I just don't need to work with. For this reason I never use lead, cadmium, barium, manganese, or lithium. Additionally, I have sent all of the glazes you see in my shop for professional leach-testing so that you and I can both be assured of their long-term stability and safety.

* I am also concerned about my impact on the environment! Thanks to a renewable energy program through our local utility (Menasha Utilities), my kiln, studio & home are powered by renewable (wind!) energy. I feel good about how my pottery is made & want you to feel good about using it!

* The packaging your pottery comes in may not be pretty, but I take care to wrap everything carefully, and ship double-boxed when necessary. I try to reuse boxes, bubble wrap, and packing peanuts whenever I can!

Shipping
The shipping calculations you see in my Etsy shop are generally for USPS Priority Mail, although after you add items to your cart, you will have the option to choose expedited shipping or (often lower cost) Parcel Select.

If for any reason, Etsy calculates a higher shipping charge than actual, I will refund the surplus to you

I also often compare estimates with UPS, FedEX or other shippers to try to find the most affordable rate, and would be happy to do this for you! Please let me know if you'd like me to look into other shipping options for you -

Thanks everyone!
Refunds and Exchanges
I take a lot of pride in my work, and want you to love it! If it arrives damaged, or if you are unhappy with it in any way, please contact me! I would rather replace it or refund it for you than have you keep a piece of that you are not totally satisfied with it!
