Note from shop owner Hello friends! I have partnered with my sister and will now be selling my items with her under the name Kiska Home. Please come check us out! We will primarily be a home decor shop, but you know how these things can evolve. Smith Darby's bags will be here shortly too! He is in the process of coming outwith his line and will have a separate site for them. Thanks to all for all of the amazing support!

About

An artistic look at almost everything.

Smith and I are a couple who create together more then anything. We reside in Tucson, Arizona, taking advantage of the sun and the desert as inspiration. We drive each other (sometimes crazy) to work our hardest and best in whatever project we pick up. I feel so lucky to have found someone that can truly understand the need to make something with my hands, and I know he feels the same.
One Word Gallery was born, soon after we met, as an idea to make a little extra money in addition to our jobs. We had so much art lying around that we though someone out there might be willing to buy it. Unfortunately, I hesitated, thinking I had to have a professional brand, product, etc., before I could expose myself to the public. I monopolized the shop, changing the products, the looks, the logos, until we were both burnt out. And still, nothing ever went up to sell.
A year later, I got a job at Home Depot and quit a month into it. Smith encouraged the quitting. He really understands that sort of thing. He knew I hated each time I had to stand, smiling to no one, in front of a pile of wood. Seriously, thats the majority of what I did there. So, freed once again from the corporate world, the idea of the shop was resurrected. I decided to throw everything we had ever made straight onto a blog and start from there.
That was the plunge I needed. Since then I have been tweaking and fine tuning. I have now turned the blog back into an actual blog, and use Etsy to sell the items that we feel best represent us now. There is still a lot of learning for me to do, and I am sure a lot more change in our future, but we are happily creating again and now we can share it with everyone.

I have tried and failed too many times at holding a corporate job. Now, I am lucky to have the opportunity to throw everything I've got into showing the world what I can do. I find inspiration everywhere, but mostly, I love to laugh.

Smith is one of the most creative people I know. He can make something amazing out of anything, and it will not only look cool, but it will have spirit. He has a way of channeling his emotion and passion into everything he touches.
