Just gorgeous! Lightweight and fits everything I need. I can see everything once I open it, no more digging for keys.

About

The heart of what I love

Working in fabric is at the heart of what I love.
I machine sewed my first tote bag at 5 years old, it was gold lamé left over from a dress my mother was making. I remember filling it with books and when the books didn't fall out of the bottom I was shocked because I had only hand sewn up to that point and never made anything that sturdy before. I eventually went off to college to study fashion, but was quickly swept away by the world of printmaking and fine art. I remember just weeks after graduating, printing fabric and making bags, but then I didn't have the support or community that exists now, thanks to places like Etsy and independent craft show producers. So for years I only dabbled at sewing, making clothes and things for my home.
When I started my Etsy shop I was working as a graphic designer but I knew I wanted to make things in fabric. I love making my own printed fabric. This process is its own art happening. It often starts with my own dyed fabric, hand carved printing blocks, handmade stamps, or whatever objects I think will do the job. Another part of the process that I love is gathering the findings that I use to put the details and finishing touches on my projects. Snaps, zippers, o-rings, handles, grommets, trims etc. I currently have over 1000 zippers in stock! The fabric and the findings hopefully come together making it possible to offer my customers reasonably priced, original handmade goods.

I love fabric, printing it, sewing it, buying it. I have always managed to find some kind of art related job, from scenic artist to graphic designer with a lot of freelance in between. I am most happy when I'm making something.
