MY STORY

My name is Orly Rabinowitz and I am passionate about creating colorful hand-made pieces that bring joy to the home.
I live in a small village in the northern part of Israel amongst greenery and a sense of peacefulness only found in the countryside. I take inspiration from all that surrounds me - be it a pattern on a bedsheet, an artwork I come across, the natural scenery outside - and most importantly from my husband Raly and my three children.
Although for years I was a full-time science and special needs educator, my passion for creating has always been there too. My relationship with art is one of those long love stories, with different techniques accompanying me in different parts of my life.
18 years ago, I came to learn of the Millefiori Technique implemented in polymeric clay, and as they say - it was love at first sight that has stood the test of time. I was fascinated by the range of colors and richness this technique allowed for and still am to this day.

At the heart of my designs lies the desire to spread color and joy, while creating functional objects that are as beautiful as much as they are meaningful.

ABOUT THE MILLEFIORI TECHNIQUE
The process of creating pieces with the Millefiori technique is very gratifying. One design is made using a single long ‘tube’ which contains the design running throughout its length. This tube is then sliced, much as one can imagine cutting through a marble cake, to reveal the design.
My designs are created from polymer clay only, without painting at all!
Once the pieces have been sliced, they are arranged on a vessel of choice (anything from salt shakers to serving bowls!) and cured in an oven to seal the small colorful pieces.
Since every piece is handmade, there are slight variations in the final result - which is what makes every item so special!
