Loving and selling vintage items!
When my husband and decided to move to the country we thought starting an antiques and collectibles business would be a way to enjoy a leisurely life style. How I dreamed of sitting in an attic dormer, reading a book, while wearing an Edwardian nightgown (I'm a Jo March wannabee). Instead, we have been so busy these last 16 years going to country auctions, estate sales, local antique shops, and more, looking for unique items, sometimes getting our hands dirty but enjoying every minute of it! The most fun is we get to enjoy a little bit of everything for awhile before it moves out to someone who will enjoy it as well.
Born and bred in Brooklyn, NY, my love for "old things" began with books like Little Women. After a move to the country - rural west central NYS - I was able to start my business (16 years ago) selling antiques and collectibles. Our house is now crowded with inventory - an occupational hazard - but I still manage to squeeze in a husband, 2 cats, and a dog.
We take daily trips, Monday through Friday, to our little village post office (a charming time capsule in itself) to mail packages. Exceptions include major snow storms which happen at least once a year up here. We have mailed lots of items and take great care in packing. Breakables are bubble wrapped and boxed, paper items are encased in plastic sleeves and merit a sturdy cardboard sandwich. Books are boxed. We are compulsive over packers!
