Hi friends and welcome to my shop! My name is Andrea McGrath and I make hand poured soy wax candles from my home in Brooklyn, NY.
I started this shop after becoming increasingly frustrated with the stigma still surrounding mental health as well as the lack of resources. I wanted to do something to bring awareness to the mental health field and to help ease people's minds and hearts who were suffering or knew someone who was suffering. This is something that is extremely close to my heart as I have a loved one who suffers and struggles with mental illness. I found the process of trying to get good professional help so overwhelming, frustrating and extremely difficult. There were days I felt so defeated and tired and run down. I would always light a candle at the end of the night- especially these nights and I would feel my stress melt away.
I decided I would make candles to bring a sense of warmth, love and comfort to the home and mind.
The perfect scent can transport us to our own private sanctuary and the glow of the candle can put our souls at ease. My hope for Out of Darkness Candle Co. is to make an impact while making an income.
All of my candles are made with organic soy wax and cotton wicks. NO additives or chemicals are ever used. Each candle is infused with essential oils and mixed with the highest quality fragrance oils. All candles are safe for people and pets :)
Because mental health is a priority and the driving force behind my business a percentage of each sale is donated to organizations that support and research mental illness as well as provide suicide prevention.
