About

"Everybody's a mad scientist and life is their lab..." - David Cranenberg

I started crocheting in high school and this, of all the crafts I'd tried before, was the only one that stuck. Surprisingly, it's about the only one that my grandmother (a master crafter in her own right) didn't practice. Although I thoroughly enjoyed the craft from the beginning, I quickly became bored with the "typical" crocheted items and sought out new and interesting patterns. Along the way, I began writing some of my own patterns and trying to recreate things that defined my childhood.
Growing up as a homeschooler, I valued learning in all areas of life - especially in puzzles and games! Now, as a chemistry graduate student, I am still learning and value that these puzzles and games provide an opportunity for parents and kids to share that learning experience. I also take joy in tryng out unique patterns - the ones you look at the finished product and wonder if yours would really work that way! I aim to write those kinds of patterns as well and these are the inspiration for many of the items featured here.
This shop is my effort to show the world what I already know - crochet can be anything! I hope to blow your mind with what is possible and give you some durable and fun stuff in the process!

As an avid crocheter and chemistry graduate student at Michigan State University, life is a balancing act! I love math, science, puzzles, and bright colors and hope this can be expressed in my favorite medium - yarn!
