Love, love, love it! Jaci even personalized it by putting on a bead for each of my children, so that I could wear it as a mother's ring. Service and delivery was super-fast. It's beautiful! I couldn't be happier with it!

Elegant and Unexpected

I grew up in the jewelry industry. Not just on the artistic side, but on the technical side as well. My grandfather was Saul Bell, founder of Rio Grande Jewelry Supply, a major supplier in the jewelry industry. I was surrounded by the best artists and their work. But I also learned from my father: gemologist, metallurgist, engineer, and all around Renaissance Man.

When my husband and I discovered that we were expecting a third bundle of joy, I had no choice but to do what many women in my place have had to do. I quit my job so that I could care for our children, while my husband stepped up as breadwinner while also going to school. Times got tough. I got creative.

I began by making Christmas ornaments inspired by the grandmother that I never knew. I studied her legacy pieces that she'd left my mother and mimicked her, and sold my creations here on Etsy. The ensuing support I received was something I had never expected.

And then January came and no one was buying ornaments anymore. I had experienced first hand what it can be to make something beautiful and dream of making it into a lifestyle, a profession. I couldn't let that go.

But what could I make? What did I honestly know?

Oh yeah. Jewelry.

What followed was a year-long immersion in the art of crafting jewelry, first by trial and error (and a lot of second and third tries), and then in the art of shaping, coaxing, and shining metal. I began with brass and copper. I asked and bothered and generally became a nuisance to the considerable resources that I had around me. I cajoled my husband into investing in classes so that his wife could discover whether she had the talent for the craft.

And you know, I did. As it turns out, I am my grandfather's daughter.

Now I have the pleasure to bring you handcrafted jewelry that you will not find anywhere else. I work in fine and sterling silver, brass and copper. I create from nature. I craft with love.

There is nothing more rewarding to me than to send one of my creations out into the world to a new home. And I promise that, when you are wearing my art, you will be stopped, and people will ask you where you got your jewelry. It has happened to me on numerous occasions.

Paradigma is the brainchild of a dream--my dream.

As a child, I could usually be found with pencil to paper in deliberate attempts to draw beautiful horses. I drew dozens, maybe hundreds, and I never liked a single one. One of them, however, sticks out in my mind. I think I may still have it somewhere, its corners dogeared and the graphite smeared across the page. A piece of printer paper, its edges faintly ragged from the tear-off reel strips that propelled paper through dot matrix printers, segmented by little green lines signifying grass atop which lay a unicorn. To the left, an iconographic tree. What made this image so special, what prompted me to scotch tape it to the side of my desk for several years, was one little phrase that bubbled up out of my soul.

Never stop dreaming.

That motto has followed me all these years.

Now, as I sit at my jeweler's bench, I am living my dream. And dreaming all the while. Each necklace, each pair of earrings, each ring and bracelet, is infused with a love for life, a need for beauty, and a spiritual fulfillment that only self expression can give me.

I hope I can give you some of that.

Each of my pieces speaks to somebody. Each one means something to them. Sometimes it's not at all what I think it means, and that's beautiful. Each piece is a dream unto itself, given life and wings to go out into the world and inspire someone else. Whether you are just drifting through or have purchased from me in the past, I wish one thing for you: inspiration to reach just one step further than you think you can go, and then to keep on going!
