About OwenandOlive
Coffee Breaks & Bridge Crossings
Nestled firmly in the soggy outskirts of Portland, Oregon, creating output between coffee breaks and bridge crossings are Olive and Owen: A dynamic duo fancying themselves a bit like the Wonder Twins, combining strengths and abilities to form an eclectic collection of illustrated paper goods, re-claimed and re-purposed objects, and vintage goods. We honestly never know where this journey will lead: Join us!
Owen is a rain-soaked native of Portland, Oregon.
He has owned a breakfast joint, played electric violin at the famous Satyricon rock club and appeared in various Andrew Lloyd Webber rock musicals. He is a singer-songwriter, likely to pick up any instrument and make a noise with it. Once referred to by his therapist as ‘the saviour of broken objects and broken people’ he is likely to pick up most any discarded item and bring it home, sure in his heart that there is beauty and usefulness left in it. Some of these items may appear in this shop.
He can currently be seen between the hours of 6 PM and 6 AM if you happen to climb into the back seat of one of Portland’s many Radio Cabs to escape a downpour.
Olive spent her first career making art and doing therapy with children. Yearning to give back in other ways, she found herself returning to her first love, drawing. Although trained and experienced in a multitude of mediums, illustrating quirky characters in surreal but instantly recogninizable situations is often her way of bringing joy to and making sense of a world of chaos. Still filled with the desire to ease pain and bring joy, her illustrations, cards and stories call out to the child in all of us.
Although she was reportedly born of completely human parents, there is clearly a crow relative somewhere in her lineage, so shiny objects and other found materials are likely to find their way both into her creations, and into this shop.
